We are having a good year. We are completely unschoolers at this point. Don't have plans for any curriculum in the future, but you never know when your kids will get really interested in a subject and want to do "more" than what they are getting in their regular day.

We are 2/3 of the way through the 3rd Harry Potter book (reading together) and have watched the movies after each of the others. We are listening to "The Spiderwick Chronicles" on audiobooks. (That's what keeps everyone happy in the car as we drive around or sit in traffic!) Quinlan is reading Junie B short chapter books on her own and I sit with Ewan as he practices reading BOB books.

Ewan has Sims (earlier versions) on his computer, so he loves to play that. Quinlan (7) installed (by herself!) Sims 2 on this old PC laptop we had around. (We have 4 Macs and she came across this Sims 2 PC for $6 at a consignment store.) She's been obsessed with that this week since it's something new. They are also enjoying playing I Spy CDrom games on their computers.

Ewan (4) is also really interested in mechanical stuff and electronics. DH got him this Discovery Kids electronic gadget lab and he wants to do that all the time! When no one else can help him, he just snaps things together to experiment. He taught himself to ride his bike in the fall and he's been riding here and there on the days it's been warm enough. He is anxiously awaiting spring so he can get out there more!

Quinlan is really into fashion design and she's got this that she really enjoys. We play pretend that I'm a celeb and she's selling me a design for an upcoming Gala.

Both kids take gymnastics (E once a week and Q twice a week). Q is really interested in trying out for the pre-team class later in the spring, so she works really hard to improve. Ewan is just excited to be in a class and playing w/ other boys.

We are part of a couple of homeschooling groups so we get together w/ other families for play time. The other moms and I enjoy getting together to chat too. We have memberships to everything (Zoo, Nat History Museum, Children's Museum, etc.) and we really enjoy being able to go during the day when it's not packed!

I just LOVE being home w/ the kids!!!

I know, that's one of my favorite perks of home-schooling too!

It sounds like you're having a great year.
