Here is our discussion thread for A Redbird Christmas, one of our winter group reads. As always, be cautious of reading the posts below if you haven't finished, as they may contain spoilers.

I really enjoyed A Redbird Christmas. It was a short, sweet story. I read so many stories and books that are sad. It was nice to read one that made me feel happy, as unrealistic as it might be.

I also found the novel fairly unrealistic but sweet and happy without being overly treacly. I think I could have suspended disbelief a little better if she had set it in the 40's or 50's, but she probably needed more modern medicine to tell her story. It's hard to imagine any community in the mainland US that is so completely cut off from the rest of society the way this one was, but once I stopped worrying about that, I enjoyed the story. Definitely a fun holiday read for when you're feeling stressed or blue.

It definitely felt like it took place in the 40's/50's. I think you're right that it would have felt more realistic if that were the case.
