Food issues in my diet and fuzzy periods?

Okay sometimes Ronan is fussy after he eats, never during the night but mostly after his late afternoon feed. From 4:30 until 6:00 he's very unhappy. Cries a lot. The only thing I regularly eat/drink that I think could be causing him discomfort is coffee. But I always have it in the late morning. Around 10 to 12ish. Could that be it, or is that too long of a delay, or could he just be cranky in the evening? I really don't want to give up my coffee but if it would make a happier baby I'll do it. Any thought?

When Maddie was very young (about 0-3 months), I couldn't drink coffee at all. It gave her a terrible upset tummy.

How long though between the upset tummy and the coffee. I read an article last week that said if you weigh 140 lbs, have 2 drinks you should wait 2 hours and 15 minutes before feeding your baby. So I applied the alcohol concept to coffee and figured in a couple of hours the coffee should be gone. It seems that it's the nursing session about 4-5 hours after the coffee drinking that bothers him, that seems to long.

I do realize the simple experiment would be to not have coffee. I'll have to try that tomorrow but it will make for a nasty day.

I remember drinking coffee at breakfast in the morning and for the rest of the entire day and evening, M would be out of sorts and cranky. Coffee was the only thing I could think of that I did differently on those days (it wasn't every day back then). My mom seemed to think it was the caffeine. Luckily, I drink coffee just about every morning now and it doesn't seem to phase her.

I would never have associated the coffee with a late afternoon fussy period, but who knows? It might be worth a day to experiment, if you can survive.

4:30-6 is a transition time of the day. DS spent that time in the sling or swing. I'm not saying it isn't the coffee, just that that's a normal time of the day for fussing (at least it was in our house).
