Here is our discussion thread for Hens Dancing, one of our summer group reads. As always, be cautious of reading the posts below if you haven't finished, as they may contain spoilers.

I've read through the first section of this book, and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. Raphaella Barker has a unique voice—kind of subtle. The book is always pleasant to pick up, but I'm looking for a little dramatic tension.
Anyone else reading this right now?

Not yet, but I've picked it as my IRL book group. The group seemed ready for something light and fun in between two more serious non-fiction books and this seemed perfect. I may not get to it for a few weeks though.

Just finished the book last night. It took me a while to get into it. I kept getting confused as to who everybody was. And I thought some of it was a little eccentric for eccentric's sake.
That said, she's obviously got a way with words -- her descriptions of The Beauty are especially lovely. The last half of the book fairly flew by (it took three weeks to read the first half and about three days to read last, and that's when I was on deadline and really should have been working). I'd be intrigued to try something else by her, but the dust jacket said this was her first American published book.
