Need tips

Hi! I am due 08-08-08 and would like some tips on how to breastfeed. I tried to breast feed my other children, but since they were so small (5 lbs 10.8 oz and 6 lbs 3 oz) and their mouths were so tiny that they couldn't get enough of my areola and nipple (sorry if TMI) into their mouths and get a good latch. Since I am now due with my 3rd and final child, I want the experience of breast feeding at least ONE of my children!! I have seen Lactation Consultants with my other two children, but they were no help, and one woman was down right rude to the point that I threw her out of my house. So I just gave up. Any tips, hints and general good thoughts are appreciated. Thanks!!

Hi,

I just have a second but... I had preemie twins, and I also had the problem of nipples to big for mouths- what worked to deal with the size issue were nipple shields for a short time.

here are some general good thoughts for a great BF relationship.

I had a bad experience with an LC too. So I'd say keep trying different ones. With 2 other little ones, it will probably be difficult but see if you can hook up with some LLL meetings, or at least a leader you can call or have come visit you. Pump and then syringe/spoon/cup/bottle feed is one option. Have you read www.kellymom.com yet? It's a great resource. Also The Breastfeeding Book by Sears. Good luck!
