HELLP Syndrome
Has anyone ever experienced this? I had this with my first son 4.5 years ago and was delivered at 37 weeks with serious complications but both of us are okay
Now currently 25 weeks pregnant with baby number two and considered high risk pregnancy and been put on close to bed rest not allowed to work, or lift anything, etc Also baby is showing an enlarged left kidney does anyone know what this could mean on top of it being a high risk pregnancy as we are just aiming to get to 30 weeks without complications |

Hi! You might want to go look at the new Stork Deliveries April May June board, to get in touch with kimber1773. I believe she has HELLP with her first and is now pregnant with her second. If you can't get ahold of her, let me know and I'll make sure she gets to you. Good luck with your pregnancy.

I was dx with HELLP post partum with my 1st almost 16 yrs ago. I went on to have 2 successful full term pg's after that. The only precaution was I had to take 1/2 an aspirin a day during my pg's and both were born via c-section at 39 weeks.

Sorry I don't know much about your situation. Jorden had both enlarged kidneys and they just told me that he was prone to more uti's and different kinds of infections in that area. Now he is a year and has only had one diaper rash and they looked at his kidneys at 6 months and said that he would defintly grow into them.
I hope this is the same in your case and good luck. ETA: When you look at WebMd they give you the worst cases and it didn't help me at all.

Hi, Chelsey sent me to the this thread!
I had Eclampsia (granmal seizure) and Hellp sydrome and delivered my first at 26 weeks! So needless to say I am extremely high risk with this baby. I have been thru so much testing and research to try and see what my chances are for a reoccurance. I have up to a 40% chance of it all happening again. This is based on women who went eclamptic and delivered before 28 weeks. On of the Peri's I visited told me of the 40% of women who reoccurred, 75% of them actually delivered this time after 35 weeks. So that was very encouraging to me. I was actually in the process of more testing to see if I had an underlying kidney issue when I found out I was PG. To top everything off, I had been infertile for 15 yrs! This is my first natural pg EVER! In the process of all the testing, they found no explanation for my illness, and found the I have poly cystic ovaries (even though my hormones don't show PCOS, I have most of the symptoms) and a blood clotting disorder. I had one OB tell me if I got pg I'd have be on a daily shot of heparin. My current OB disagrees and has me on one baby aspirin a day. The good thing about the aspirin is that many docs feel it may help Pre-e, and definitely won't hurt it. I move around quite a bit and it is ironic how I just got back to CO and 2 months later find out I am pg. this is the same OB I used with my first. so he knows my history. completely off topic here- I have a very strong faith in God and have prayed for the past 4 years that if it were God's will for me to have another baby, then let it happen naturally and that will be my sign everything will be ok and that I was healed! Like I mentioned above, I was going thru testing, I was going to make my decision to go forward with fert treatments again or get sterilized based off the results. That decision was taken away from me and I have faith I will be ok.

I had preeclamsia and HELLP with my first pregnancy. I delivered at 32 weeks and my issues were resolved within a few weeks for the most part. With my 2 other pregnancies I was followed much more closely and was on medications to try to help me avoid the previous problems. I found the preeclampsia.org --preeclampsia foundation -- to be immensly helpful in finding out more information and to also connect with a lot more moms with the same problems. It was way better than googling the problem since all that got me was lots of misinformation.
