Arrow Summer '07 discussion thread: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Here is our discussion thread for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, one of our summer group reads. As always, be cautious of reading the posts below if you haven't finished, as they may contain spoilers.

Bumping this to the top and then I'm not reading it again until I've finished! Happy reading, everyone.

I managed to get pretty much nothing done today (didn't even log in) except read but WOW -- the book was really satisfying! I'm looking forward to the posts on this thread!

I finished it around 5pm this evening. I agree with Heather... this book was very satisfying!!! I was so excited that everything turned out the way it did!

And I find it funny that the last word was not scar. As predicted back in 99.

Wasn't there supposed to be more about Harry having his mother's eyes, and that having some extra meaning? Or is the connection about looking like James but having Lily's eyes an explanation for Snape's dislike of Harry?

*spoiler*

I think one of the reasons Snape always honored his pact with Dumbledore was b/c of Harry's eyes. I think they haunted him. I was looking for a bigger or deeper meaning, but that's pretty much it.

I just love how each character was completed. I really felt like there was justice to everyone. I was sad about Fred... but amazed that only one Weasley died! I cried when I read about Tonks and Remus. That was soooo sad.

And I love love love that Harry got married to Ginny. Just seemed to make the book worthwhile. And Ron and Hermione. Loved it. And the names of their kids???? Too cute!

I really got a kick out of the oldests boys name. Who would have thought?

JK has hinted on more, so maybe we'll be able to follow the kids adventures as well? anything with a Potter and a Weasley has to be entertaining and Malfoy having a child as well (the same age )

Did Ron and Hermione's kids' names (Rose and Hugh) have any significance? I was trying to remember Hermione's parents names, but couldn't.

In death, Snape asked Harry to look at him so he could die while looking into Lily's eyes.
