Smile Check in time...

Hi Ladies, I thought it might be a good idea to have an update on anyone that is currently pregnant and having complications. If you have time, please update us on how you are doing.

Take care!

Well, as always I am here with diabetes in pregnancy. Originally GD and now just regular old D. My blood sugar has been pretty darn good lately, though, so I have no real complaints. Although I did catch the tubing on my insulin pump on the doorknob earlier (hard to describe but not fun, trust me) and that was not super cool. In general I have no complaints!

Hello -

I am also with diabetes in pregnancy. I was put on Glucophage about a month ago and it seems to be working pretty well. Honestly, I am getting tired of dealing with it and feel very fortunate that it should be gone after I delivery (hopefully, since it did with the last two). I am having issues with will power this past week and need a kick in the you know what! I have resorted to not testing if I have been really really bad. I know, not good!! Help.

Hi Kim, will power is a tough one, just a few more months to go. Hang in there! I know easier said than done, right?!?

What are you finding most difficult to resist eating?

Kim, I just wanted to give you this link in case you haven't already come across it. It's a great article called
Diabetes and Pregnancy in our Pregnancy Complications cubby.

Good luck!

Hi Sheryl - I think my biggest weekness right now is chocoalte/sweet stuff. We had a tub of cookie dough and I kept getting into that with a spoon. Not a lot, but enough to make me feel really guilty about it. I need to throw it out.

Thanks for the link. I hadn't seen that yet. It's good to read up again and remind myself why it's so important to "behave". I also got to see a 4D real time scan today and just seeing the baby helps puts it into perspective and helps keep me motivated (hopefully). Thanks again for the encouragement.

I

Kim, that must of been so great seeing 4D scan, how cool. Have you tried the sugar free chocolate? I've seen that before in the supermarkets I think. I'm sure it's not as good in taste, but it might be enough to trick your sweet tooth.

Hang in there!

Sugar free chocolate is self-limiting - if you eat very much of it, you get the runs. (no need to ask how I know... )

Oh my goodness. I'll keep that in mind. I have had issues with certain ingredients in the past. I think I have seen some products made with splenda out there that might work. I need to go look and see. Thanks guys.
