November '06 discussion thread: Testing Kate

Here is our discussion thread for Testing Kate, one of our November group reads. As always, be cautious of reading the posts below if you haven't finished, as they may contain spoilers.

I'm now several chapters in. What fun! I love Whitney's writing. Such a great sense of humor -- I've laughed out loud several times already. I am rooting for Kate, hoping her bad luck turns around soon.

I have started it also, and have laughed out loud also... I hope to find more reading time today. I keep picturing Whitney at Law school... as Kate!

I think this is the best of Whit's so far. I loved how Kate evolved as a character throughout the book and how she finally discovered herself. What I want to know is if George is one of the characters in the book.

There was a part of the book I was not sure if I wantedto blush or lmao since I feel like I "know" Whitney.

I have a question for you though. Do you find it hard to let go of your characters once you're done with a book? Do you usually have their life planned out in your head? I always want to know for instance, did they get married? Have kids? Did she get her book published? Do you have an idea about that kind of stuff in your head? Or once the story's done you don't really think about it?

I am so in love with this book that I just can not stop raving about it to my friends and families...

Now tell me if it is just me.. but does anyone else just crack up laughing in the middle of doing something when the thought of "kate" with a maxi pad stuck to her *ss... I literally spit diet coke out over that one!!

Nooooo! I'm not Kate! Or maybe I should say, Kate isn't me. This book is totally fictional, and not at all autobiographical!

It really depends. Sometimes I have a really clear idea of where they'll end up, sometimes I don't. I don't with Kate . . . her story was so much about giving up on what she thought was the ideal safe life, that I hope she'd continue on that path.

But yes, she'd definitely get her book published.
