This was an interesting read although I got a bored in spots. It's a non-fiction account of the author's travels. For those who have read Frances Mayes' books, this book is similar except that instead of building/remodeling her own home, the author stays with locals to learn the culture more intimately. I wasn't overly impressed with the book when I finished it but I've found myself thinking about certain parts of her travels and experiences much later. Book obviously left some kind of impression on me that I wasn't aware of at the time I read it!
If you like travel books, you may enjoy this. If you like books about women going through changes in their lives and trying to sort it out, you may also like this book.
