weird story-for those of us who hate strangers touching our babies!
Hi,
I posted this on another board but I had to share it here too. It's so strange. A woman I know just had twins. Since they were teeny at birth she is careful to keep them out of contact with other people. When she goes out in public, she puts the smaller of the two in a baby carrier so that people won't touch him, and the larger in her carseat in a cart or whatever. A few days ago she was in a store, and turned away for a second, and when she turned back, the baby girl was GONE out of her carseat. She searched the store frantically and found a middle aged woman holding her baby girl in her arms. When she rushed up to her the woman simply said: "you looked like you could use some help." I would have totally flipped out!!! I hate it when strangers touch my son's face or hands! Can you even imagine?! |

I don't care what the woman said, I'd have called security and pressed charges! I'm sure she was a nice, but stupid woman who wanted to help, but IMO you never, NEVER take anyone's baby without asking.
She could have been on her way out the door with the child when she was found. Anybody can say, "Oh you look like you needed some help," when caught attempting a kidnapping. Am I overreacting? Maybe. But I wouldn't take the chance. |

I absolutely and uncatagorically agree with ekee.
I'd call 911/security/report it. |

I would have called the store security and 911,there is no reason for a stranger to take your child.

I definitely would've called the police too. I don't think that is overreacting!
You're right, she could've just said she was trying to help when she got caught. It gives me the shivers just thinking about it. |

I would have called the police too. The woman could easily have been lying. She took the baby out without even saying hi or anything at all?

That does it. I'm never going shopping without my sling and my daughter planted in it.

O....M....G!
how frightening!it sounds like maybe the woman had good intentions...but in this day and age, you don't just grab someone else's baby! i would have flipped out, and probably called the police. she may have been trying to take the baby, and was only covering with that "help" story. you can just never be too careful. that's what i love about the sling. it would be pretty impossible for anyone to take her without me noticing! but with twins, it would be hard. that is just so scary.
