Has anyone done scrapbooking pages that are memoriums for someone who has died?
My mother's family is doing an annual scrapbook as an heirloom. I've been asked to do one for our family and since my mom died back in 1993 they want to do a memorium page as well. Other than the funeral card, her picture and the obituary, what other things should/could I include? I don't want it to be too sad, just a nice remembrance. Any ideas? |

I did one for my DH's cousin who died while I was pregnant with my first.
We couldn't travel to CA to see her to say good bye but the rest of his family spend weeks with her and her DH. I included all the stuff/pictures they sent to us. Pictures from the furneral, etc. I also had pictures of her engagement and wedding that I added. My MIL asked me to do it for her husband and Mother. ~~~~~~~~~ For you I would try to find a pictures of her as a child, at her wedding and with you and your silbings to start with. Maybe list her important dates like birth, graduated from school, married, birth of you and siblings, anothing else special to you. If she collected something maybe try to find stickers for the theme. I would love to see the finished pages if you can scan them!

Thank you PaulaSue and ibmommy for your ideas.
I have the obituary, pictures from her childhood and wedding and our last family photo. I bought some beautiful memorial stickers (at a dollar store no doubt...) that say "Gone but not forgotten" and that sort of thing. I also got some stickers of roses as those were her favourite. I am working on this tomorrow, so I'll let you know how it goes. I won't be able to scan them though as my scanner does not work anymore But, even if it did how do you scan a 12 x 12 page? Our scanner wasn't that big?!!

Well, I finished my mom's page.
On the front, I put the last picture we have of her (about 2 months before her death). The obituary and our last family picture. On the back, I put various pictures from her life and the details about them. It turned out okay. Not too sad, like I wanted. My heart aches for you ladies who have pages like these to create for children you have lost. My God, what an awful thing to have experienced as mothers. I hope and pray that you find peace and comfort in putting together these loving pages for your babies. Peace to you. |
