Gps ??

I would like to get DH one of these for Christmas.
I totally want to surprise him, but he is ultra picky when it comes to electronics or outdoor equipment.
I know nothing about these, except that he said one time that it would be a couple/few hundred dollars for a decent one. I have been saving.

I can ask my bro and SIL. They have one and have looked at others. We want to get one too, so the info will be useful for us as well.

My DH bought one and he uses it all the time. I'm not sure what kind it is or anyhting. He bought it at the base and I believe it was around $300. He's deployed so I'll email him and ask.

I bought my dh a GARMIN Global Positioning System last year. We use it a lot when we travel because you can give starting points and destinations. It'll give you exits and restaurants and everything. (kinda like Onstar) Anyway dh uses it for hunting of course. HE LOVES IT!! I paid $299 for it at a Gander Mountain hunting/fishing store. You can also get them from Cabelas.com

P.S. it comes with a software pack and you can download topo maps and all kinds of stuff.

GREAT gift idea for hunters!

FIL has a Garmin as do some of the guys DH works with. FIL was telling me about a kit you can get for the car that will call out driving directions for you. He said a buddy of his has it and that you have to be careful, because it is extremely literal. So, if you tell it the quickest way, it just might send you the wrong way on a one way.
