At 3 years and 3 months

I think Madeleine is done nursing. I thought I would be sad when this day came, but I'm really not. She still asks sometimes before bed for comfort I'm sure, so I oblige, but I don't think there is much in there. I remember being so worried (ok, obsessive) when I was pregnant with her that breastfeeding just wouldn't work. Then I thought it was the end of the world when I had to stop breastfeeding for 48 hours when she was 5 days old because of the jaundice (which I would NOT do again, but whatever). Then I was absolutely sure that when I went back to work when she was 12 weeks old that I'd never be able to pump and that would be the end of it. I never thought I'd nurse past 6 months, then a year. And there is no way you could have told me 5 years ago I'd be nursing a toddler, then a preschooler. But here we are. I have received such wonderful advice over the past 3+ years from you guys here that I'm sure that played a role in our extended nursing relationship and for that I am eternally grateful! You guys are awesome.

It's not the load that breaks you down, it's the way you carry it.
