This thread is for sharing our thoughts after we finish A Murder Is Announced. What did you think of this Agatha Christie mystery? Here are a few questions you can answer if you like:

Who were your favorite characters?
Did you enjoy the plot? What parts of the plot were unexpected for you?
What did you think of Christie's writing style?

It also might be fun to compare notes now from our first thread and see if any of our predictions were correct!

My favorite character was Letty who turned out to be Lotty and the murderess! I liked this book a lot better than A Pocket Full of Rye !! The characters were more colorful and I love the setting of the small town where everyone knows everything about everyone. It reminds me of where I live:)

I liked this one a lot more, too, Heather! :) The characters were wonderful, weren't they? My favorites were Bunch and Rev. Julian. I enjoyed Mitzi, too, with her change of heart about the police. And I adore Miss Marple now. :D

There was so much going on in this one. Even though I figured out (not until I was close to the end) that it was Letty, I didn't figure out the Lotty thing. There were so many little mysteries going on -- many of the characters had something going on "behind the scenes."

This one ended so sweetly, too, with the marriage of Edmund & Pip. And I loved the cute beginning and ending, focusing on the Gazette and life in a small community.

Very fun!

Yay, Caryl! Great job! I love how this one hinges on something as simple as a name-- or even just one letter. I hate that poor Murgatroyd was killed, but Letty (Lotty, of course) was that desperate. Sad what money will do to people.

One reason I love this book is that it takes place practically in Miss Marple's back yard-- her village parallels don't have to go very far. She's so much more of a presence in this one.

I love that little Miss Marple. I hadn't realized how much I missed her in the last couple Agatha Christie books I read. She's a real character.

I figured out who did it before the end, just based on some intuition, I think. But I couldn't put my finger on it - I was really surprised that Letty was really Lotty. (most unexpected part!) I enjoyed this book a lot, but would have kept all the characters in my mind much better if I had read it faster. This is the last time I read a chapter a night at about midnight before drifting off. LOL.
My favorite character was Bunch. She just seemed so necessary and so innocent and such a perfect sidekick. As always, Agatha Christie's writing style was perfect.

It was really fun to add two more of her books to my bookshelf. I think I have about twelve now!

Nancy, I'm glad you finished and enjoyed it!

Jer, I got the BBC movie from my library and watched it. The actors were perfect! Especially Miss Marple. Just as I imagined her. I'd love to sit down with her for tea and a nice chat. :)
