I had an episiotomy 3 1/2 years ago and it still hurts when I menstrate or stand a long time.
Anyone else have this problem I was told it would heal in 6 weeks and It took months.

I've had two :( the first one gave me some trouble for about 6 months, but mainly during sex, the second has caused no problems.
If you're having problems when you're standing for a long time, and during periods, I'd consider other things like nerve entrapment, hypergranulation , possibly even a prolapse? (My neighbour is having this problem with similar symptoms)
It's definately not normal, go and see your doctor and get it treated. You don't have to put up with any pain all your life.
Good Luck

I have a double prolapse - cystocele and rectocele (bladder and rectum) and the rectocele is right along the line of the serious episiotomy the doctor claimed was necessary and also claims had nothing to do with the rectocele. The cystocele is more serious, but both cause a lot of pain, particularly mid-cycle and during my periods when hormones are peaking and the circulation levels are greater in that region. Pain with prolapses is actually one of the lesser symptoms, but it is a possibility.
Definitely get this looked into as it is not normal to be hurting for this long just due to the episiotomy.

My dd is two (this month :) ) and my episiotomy site still hurts during my period and sometimes during sex also. I do have a rectocele (blah), but it is completely different. I haven't talked to a dr about it, but probably should. Hope your dr can come up with something that helps you!
