Hi ladies - I need help/advice.
I posted last week on BB Jan-Juune 2001 about my friend who was having a miscarriage. Well, it turns out that there is a slight chance she may continue with a normal pregnancy. I guess she started spotting before her period was due, and when they took a blood test at the doctor's office was when she discovered she was pregnant. An ultrasound (at approx. 4 weeks along) revealed a mass in her uterus, but because it was so early it was difficult to detect if it is a normal pregnancy. She has continued to bleed, heavy at times, and experienced cramping. The doctors cannot rule out a potentially normal pregnancy and she has been back several times to monitor hcg levels, which have continued to rise. It could be an ectopic pregnancy but they doubt it because there is no pain. Her hcg levels doubled in a few days and they cannot do an ultrasound until they reach 1500 (right now she is at around 430 and goes back Friday for another blood test). Today they did a progesterone test to see if she is miscarrying but won't get the results until Friday.

Needless to say, the waiting and not knowing is killing her. Does anyone have any experience with something like this? Or has had something similar happen and then gone on to have normal pregnancies? Any help/information will be appreciated.

Also, please keep her in your prayers - we are hoping for a normal pregnancy. TIA.

Maria,

I had a very similar experience. It ended up where I miscarried a twin. It was a rocky pregnancy for awhile but I did end up giving birth to a very healthy little boy.

I'll keep your friend in my prayers. I know it's scary when they don't know what's going on and you're scared spitless.

You're very special to be so concerned for your friend.
