View Full Version : Any Ken Follett fans out there?
My Mom has been trying to get me to read "Hornet Flight" by Ken Follett for a while now, and I finally got it from the library and finished it this week. Wow! I can't remember the last time I read such a compelling, suspenseful book. I felt all the characters were really well-written and believable. Several times while reading I found myself nodding and thinking, "That's really true to life."
Anyway, now I want to read more by this author and I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations, or just wants to share their Ken Follett love. :)

A big Ken Follett fan here! I think I have read most of his books. I think my favorites were "The Third Twin", "A Dangerous Fortune", and "A Place Called Freedom". I *think* the last two titles are right. I'm running on about 3 hours sleep :o

I've read a few of his books, but my favorite BY FAR is "The Pillars Of The Earth." It's nothing like his other books -- it takes place in 12th/13th century England and it's about the building of a cathedral. My father-in-law recommended it to me and when I read the book jacket, I wasn't the least bit interested. But with nothing else to read in the house that I hadn't read a million times, I started it -- and was totally hooked. It's fascinating!

I loved 'The Pillars of the Earth' - one of my favorites ever! It has been years since I read it - hmmmm, maybe I should read it again. I like more of his 'historical' type books. 'A Dangerous Fortune' and 'Night Over Water' are some others that come immediately to mind.
OK, I put "Pillars of the Earth" on my reserve list at the library. There are 12 people in front of me, but the queue usually moves pretty quick. After "Hornet Flight" I can't wait! I did just read "Jackdaws" also, but while it was pretty good, I felt it wasn't up to the level of "Hornet Flight". The characters were just a little too wooden, not fleshed out enough, if you know what I mean. They seemed a bit cliched. The plot was suspenseful enough, I just didn't care about the characters quite as much.
