Do you have any rooms in your house without books? Susan once mentioned she had books everywhere. Today I realized, I almost do. We have books in every room (including kitchen and both bathrooms) except the laundry/storage/furnace room. We have other storerooms with books in them, but this one is in the basment by the well pump and I don't want them water damaged.
Also, does anyone else read in the shower? A lot of people read in the tub, but we joked in college about laminating our texts so we could study even in the shower.. I do anyway, quite often, up until I need to get my hair washed, then I use both hands and toss the book out so it doesn't get soapy. Am I weird? My hubby thinks so. Hmm...

wow you are a really hard core reader. We don't have books in the bathroom (not permanent books anyways.) Everywhere else, someone will find some kind of book. But I can't say I have ever read in the shower. And I only do magazines in the tub. I hate to wreck books by getting them wet. I'm just trying to imagine taking a shower while reading a book. How do you do it???
Um... none. There are books in every single room in the house, on the carport, and in the car. :)
I read in the bath all the time, but I've never tried the shower. It's hard enough trying to keep my books dry while sitting in the tub with my kids! ;)

DJ, I loved your description of reading in the shower! :D I'll have to try it sometime.
We have books in almost every room. I just realized there are none in the laundry room... I may have to stash a few there.
In our old house, we remodeled the bathroom, and put in a bookshelf that went the whole length of the room. We had a blast picking out books to put in there! We chose ones with short selections, like short stories, essays and comics, as well as ones with interesting titles. :)

Ironically, I would have to say my bathroom is the only room without books in it.

I'm new around here, but I started laughing when I read this post and decided I had to post too.
We have books in EVERY room of the house, including the bathroom!!
I thought that was normal! LOL :)

Hrm... I've never read in the shower... :) I think if I wanted to read and clean at the same time I always just took a bath.
The only room without books in my apartment is the pantry. I've never felt the urge to read in the pantry.
I will admit though, during the pregnancy with my first son, I lost some library books. I later found them in the freezer!!!

LOL @ the books in the freezer!
I haven't read in the shower, but I have avoided showering to keep reading. ;)
We still have books in every room, but as we now live in a small apartment I don't think that's too surprising. We have books on just about every surface, as well (couch, tables, kitchen counters, dresser, desk, etc.) Which is also not too surprising since we don't have bookshelves yet.

I have to confess, I have books everywhere..except for the kitchen. I even have a book in DD diaper bag! How do you read in the shower? I read in the tub (actually I used to until DD was born), but I've never tried the shower. My Dh gets fustrated because there are books everywhere in our house, he can not understand why I want to keep books once I've read them. he doesn't understand the joy of re-reading good books!! :)

Hey, I've been on Storknet for almost a year, and have somehow never found my way over to the reading circle. It's nice to see so many other book addicts here.
I have books in every room except the bathrooms too. But other than that we've got stacks and stacks in every room. I can't pass a bookshop without buying something (when dh is with me he has to hold me by the arm to keep me from drifting in) and I can't get rid of them once I've got them.

Welcome to all of the new posters here! :) Lots of booklovers, huh? Please stick around!
Navygrrl -- I even know where your sig quote is from. Dh and I have been watching Buffy season two. :D
Here is a children's book I found at the library this week. I think many of you could relate to it. Check it out:
The Library (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0374443947/ref=nosim/storknet00) by Sarah Stewart
I loved it, and I hope I can be as generous with my books someday as Elizabeth Brown was.

I love that one. Also, Library Lil and Stella Louella's Runaway Book.
My mom was the classic *hush* librarian, but some of them are really fun. :)

The bathrooms are usually book free in the sense that nothing "lives" there, though I often bring in and out what I'm currently reading. I just realized, though, that the dining room is book free nearly all the time. No bookcase, and I don't usually read there. Shocking!

I have a bookshelf in almost every room in the house (and I'm out of room). No books in the bathroom because I don't want anything to get moldy or wet. Plus, the thought of a germy book...I guess I'm just a germ freak. Have not figured out how to shower and read....but I love the idea. I usually listen to books on tape in the car, and keep a novel in my glove compartment for anytime I have a long wait (or if my car breaks down).
Oh yeah, I have to pack up my classroom as I'm taking maternity leave for at least a year, and I realized I have another 4 bookshelves here! AUGH!
