I am so sick and tired of people, including perfect strangers, asking us if we are going to have more children. Like as if it is any of their business. Because we have a boy and a girl it seems like it's worse because some will say, "Now you have a complete family and won't need any more." Uggghhh!

I hear the same thing from everyone...if its their fist time to see the twins or the 100th....'boy do you have your hands full" Just before they say it they get a funny look in their eyes, I can tell its coming, today I almost said it before the person got a change to get it out but I chickened out.

Mind you, my boys are identical (and only a pound apart)....
Are they twins?
Are they identical?
You must have your hands full
Will you have any more? (when I say I have 3 more at home I get the quiet gasp...and the next comment will be, I guess you have a lot of help then....NO! They are children, hello?!!)
Where'd the red hair come from? (I hate that one)
Must be double trouble
They look so alike....they don't look anything alike
I love the elderly though....they seem too look younger as they walk away. They could ask the same questions over and over and it wouldn't bother me.

Lately it has been "You really have your hands full!" over and over and over... You would think I would be used to it by now but I am getting pretty tired of that one.
For the first few months I thought about making a sign to hang from the grocery cart:
Yes, they are both mine.
Yes, they are twins.
One is a boy and one is a girl.
The girl is the one under the pink blanket; the boy is the one
under the blue blanket.
No, they are not identical.
Yes, we are doubly blessed.
No, my husband is not getting a vasectomy.

The next time someone asks me if they are twins I'm going to say: "no, they are 2 months apart actually"
Let them ponder that for about a year! LOL

Lutey, I love your sign idea! Especially the last one!
I took custody of my cousins dd when my son was 12 mos and she was 16 mos. They were 1/4 inch and 1/4 pound apart, both blue-eyed blondes. Most people thought they were twins, and since it was easier than going through the whole custody issue with strangers, I just always said yes, they are twins. How old they were depended on where we were (or the number of clouds in the sky). The one comment that sticks out in my head, all these years later...
When you figure out what causes that, you can stop it.
They were my only kids at the time! For all they knew, it was my first successful pregnancy after multiple m/c's! How rude!
I had twins in my daycare who altho they were not identical, they were so strikingly alike you had to REALLLLLLY look and know the identifier to tell them apart. I would take them grocery shopping, and people would in one breath comment on how identical they looked, and then ask if they were twins! Once or twice I muttered No, they aren't even brothers!
Now my sister has b/g twins. Her dd has always been at least 2-3 lbs heavier as an infant, and now that they are preschoolers, she is noticeably bigger. But sis ALWAYS dresses them like twins- pink/blue or matching outfits, whenever we go someplace public. She hears the same comment EVERYWHERE she goes- Are they identical? Duh! They don't even LOOK that much alike! Certainly no more than any other 2 sibs would! Plus, one is a boy and one is a girl! People somehow think that gender has no bearing on identical-ness!

When the girls were younger, I got very tired of hearing, "Boy and a girl?" It never failed - every time we left the house, we had to say, "No, two girls..." at least once.
Now that they're up and about, I get a little tired of, "Do twins run in your family?" We always reply, "They do now."
I also get a kick out of, "How do you tell them apart?" Well, they're my children, so they don't look just alike to me. Go figure.
Just when we get sick of the public in general, some older person will say, "You know you're blessed, don't you?" ... and it's all better.

These are some of my favorites:
Is it 2 boys or 2 girls? Usually in pink and blue meaning girl and a boy.
Double trouble? No, double blessing. Usual response to that is oooh.
Do they sleep at night? They have been sleeping 8 to 10 hours at night since 5 wks. That really gets them.
Here is one I just heard for the first time the other day, who takes care of them? Where did that come from?
after my m/c i am really getting to hate the
'you're all set' now comments or the '2 at one time, weren't you lucky not to go thru 2 pgs' grrrr.
so a little sensitive right now(right ronna?)

I think the most annoying question I've gotten about my b/g twins is "Are they identical? They looked fairly similar as babies, but it was still very evident that they were of different genders, especially since my son weighed exactly a pound more than his sister at birth.
Grr.

Well I think you guys took up all the comments already, LOL. I know I've said this one before to you all before but my most hated comment is "Oh twins and an older one?" Grrrr! I have such a sensitive spot for that because I don't want Brooke to feel left out because she is fraternal, she is only 4 lbs bigger than the other 2 it's not like she is monstrous compared to them. Oh and another one they say is "Oh she must be the oldest" and they are truly shocked when I say no she isn't. Like that 1 minute apart is going to make her huge compared to her sisters, LOL. I always got the "I hope you had a lot of help" comment too and the "Does it run in your family?" Of course the "Your hands are full" is the most common I ever hear, sometimes I just say "and then some" One time I totally grossed out a girl who didn't have kids yet. She asked me how close together they were born and I said 1 minute apart, they were all born in 3 minutes. She couldn't figure it out so I told her "well I had a c-section and the Dr just grabbed at whoever's feet or whatever was closest and pulled them out one by one" The poor girl looked like she wanted to puke, LOL.
Oh boy I could go on and on, LOL!

The "boy are your hands full" comment is getting pretty old. My favorite is when they "swear" the girls are identical (every time they are dressed alike) or "they're definitely fraternal" (when they are dressed differently.
Another comment that we keep hearing now the twins are toddlers is "oh you have triplets!" Kate is almost two years older than the twins and huge compared to them. Hello??? I feel bad for her when she hears that from ignorant people. :(

of course if I hear "oooh double trouble!" one more time, I think I will pull all my hair out and run away screaming. Of course I always have to say "no twice as nice"
This weekend some guy pointed us out to his wife or girlfriend and she said "No Thank You!" ya, like I was offering them to you, you embecile! grrr

I am so tired of hearing how I don't "need" to have any more kids since I was luckey enough to get the required boy & girl in one shot. When I tell people that these are my 8th & 9th kids they just look at me like I'm a really pathetic fool. It usually does shut them up though.

I've been lurking lately since my sil is expecting twins and I had to answer. I get these same comments- it isn't just you, people make stupid comments to everyone! :) I have a boy and girl 17 months apart and I get the identical twin thing all the time- hello? They have the same color hair, but my son is obviously bigger, has a rounder face and green eyes (Beth's are blue). The whole time I was pregnant I got "You must be trying for a boy," because Aren is so pretty. Every day I hear, "You have your hands full." And when they say something about how 'active' my kids are I reply, "Twice the trouble is twice the blessing." I also love it when the older two are in the cart and the baby is in the sling shopping and someone makes the 'hands full' comment, at which I hold them up in the air and say, "no I don't," and smile big.
Don't feel lonely, if they were singletons you would still get dumb comments (about the girl who must be a tom-boy: no, he is a boy, or the boy who likes to wear pink: no, she's a girl, etc). Like the time I was at the post office, very pregnant with two toddlers and the clerk told me I should be using birth control! Isn't life fun? *lol*

"Are they identical? They look a little bit identical, but they look different, too!"
(I have boy/girl twins. LOL! Actually, I do get a kick out of it when people ask this, though. Especially because my girl has curly hair and is usually dressed in pink, and my boy is all boy.)
