I really like Max Luciado. He is awesome.
I very much enjoy the writings of C.S. Lewis ("Mere Christianity" especially) and also Madeleine L'Engle's Christian writings.
I love C.S. Lewis. Screwtape Letters was my favorite. Thoughts of it always enter my head as I start doing our budget in my mind during mass! lol! It helps me regain my focus.

Oke, Wick, Peart, Lewis, GL Hill, Morris (and Morris), and any other romance authors the library gets in. :D
I also read some parenting stuff (Sears, LeHaye, Dobson) and have apologetics and study materials that I will get back to some day. Kids keep me busy these days.
I am about to start The Remnant. It is either book nine or ten in the the LEft Behind series.
I've just started reading some books by Kristen Heitzmann. I just stumbled on to her, while chasing my DS through the Fiction section of our library. Her books are mainly romances and set in Colorado, (where we live). I've really been enjoying them...they don't have big steamy scenes, but that doesn't diminish the romance at all, maybe it adds to it even. Each one I've read has had a strong focus of God's impact on the character's lives. Thumb's up so far!

Lurking here..never saw this book board before, how cool!
Frank Peretti is good, he's Christian based but it's FICTION and a pretty cool look at the spiritual warfare that we dont see.
The Left Behind Series is GREAT. I reccomend the entire series rather than reading one book of it!

I love Peretti!!! The Prophet was so great- where the guy was pro-choice and then his teenager almost died from a poorly done abortion (why is this an outpatient proceedure???) and made him rethink his views. Sometimes we don't think about things until they happen to us. I really wish women's health "care" was an area where patients were informed about what is going on with them. For too many years have people believed we can't read or think (even pro-women doctors have written books for husbands to read and then "explain" to their wives), so informed consent goes out the window- I am almost to the point that I don't think men should be allowed to treat women, back like it used to be. :P
Okay, back on task. I also loved the Oath, but hubby hated it. He is pro-dragon and thinks it is unfair that because Satan is called the Dragon we look at all dragons as bad. There is even a Christian kid's book about how there were dragons in the garden but they couldn't co-exist with evil so they died with the fall of man or something.. kind of cool if you like to mix history with fantasy.

I don't know if she is a Christian author, but I just read a book by Anita Diamant called "The Red Tent". It is about Dinah, the daughter of Jacob in the Bible. I am pretty sure that it is mostly fiction, but it had a lot of factual information about how life was back in Biblical times. It told a wonderful story of how women lived back then and I was especially interested in the descriptions of how women gave birth ( no c-section option back then). Some of it was dificult to understand because she used a lot of the jargon from back then, but all in all an enjoyable and educational read!

John Ortberg is wonderful to read, so are R.C. Sproul and James Dobsen ("Bringing up Boys" is a fast fun read).

Hello! I haven't posted here in months so I will just jump in.
I too love the Left Behind series. I am anxiously awaiting the release of Armageddon in April!
I am in the middle of reading The Godchasers by Tommy Tenney.
One that I really want to read is Bad Girls of the Bible (or something like that). Has anyone read it?

I have read all but 1 of the Left Behind series. They're fascinating fiction!
I am reading Bringing Up Boys (Dobson) right now...started it months ago, but haven't found the time to finish it!
I love to read anything by Beth Moore. If you haven't already, you must read "Feathers From My Nest"...they're stories about her 2 girls...they made me laugh (out loud!), cry, and just feel good about bring up my children in a Christian home.
~VLeslie~I haven't read "Bad Girls of the Bible", but I have been eye-ing it lately at the bookstore...???

Hmmm, where to start?
Non-fiction - I've read lots of Dobson, including Bringing Up Boys which I really liked and found helpful. Charles Swindoll is another one I really like. Others I've enjoyed/found helpful: Kevin Leman, Gary Smalley, Jill Briscoe, Neil T. Anderson, Cynthia Tobias, Jean Lush (she has passed away and her books are a little older, but she was a very wise lady). These cover a broad range of topics, but are authors I've learned alot from, or who have really helped me through some tough stuff.
Fiction, well, there are many but here's a few that stand out: Brock & Bodie Thoene, (except their latest Jerusalem series - way too violent!), Jane Kirkpatrick, Lynn Austen (Eve's Daughters is a MUST read!). Penelope Stokes is WONDERFUL, Francine Rivers, Lisa Tawn Bergren, BJ Hoff.
I love to read, but have had little time for it lately. However, I will get back to it eventually. :)
ETA: Bad Girls of the Bible is by Liz Curtis Higgs. She's a very funny lady and I'd like to read that one too!

I've been gone for awhile so I too will just jump in with both feet. I love Oke for romance and Frank Peretti for more of a non-romance. I LOVE T.D. Jakes for encouraging books. His bool "Loose that woman" (I think that's what it is) is wonderful!! My mom also has some funny books from a woman who's son is gay and how she deals with it. Those books are hilarious!

Barbara Johnson? "Spalshes of Joy in the Cesspools of Life" and the rest? I LOVE her stuff, even if she thinks I am too young to read it. *lol*
