Hi all, I am just looking to see if there are any others going thru what looks like may lay ahead for me. I am 12 weeks preg. today. My last OB appt. on Monday, my blood pressure was up. (I also noticed there is protien in my urine, but have to ask the dr. more on that next appt. (Wed)) I am now monitoring my BP 5x's a day and taking 150 mg of magnesium. The dr. said if the bottom # gets to 90 to call her immediatly or the hospital if it is after hours. And I am honestly not far from 90, of course with much prayer I hope it doesn't get there. I have read up on what all this can mean and I know it can mean Preeclampsia and I know this is way early for those kinds of problems. I know this early things could get serious later on. Just wondering if there is anyone else going thru this? Andrea

Hi,

My blood pressure didn't go up until I was about 30 weeks. I had 24 hr urine all the time......My last 24 hour urine had 4 grams of protein and that was at 36 wks. My baby was born at 36 weeks and was perfect!! I wish you all the luck, it sounds like you have a rough road ahead of you!! Take care and pray alot!!

Thanks for your words of encouragement. I have read up alot and we do realize that I may have a long road ahead. I am also preparing my mind for a premature birth. My husband is also leaving in 1 mo. and will be gone the rest of my pregnancy. And yes I am praying lots, Thank you!!!

That is awful that your husband is going to be gone!! Do you have any family there? That would be so hard! Remeber to listen to your Drs, the usually know what they are talking about!! If you ever need anything, or just wanna talk....I am here!

I have chronic hypertension. I've never medicated it though. Right now, I'm on bedrest until the baby arrives. My pressure was pretty high from the beginning. Many people don't have their pressure taken often and don't even know if they have HBP. With me, it probably not related to the pregnancy. I've talked to several other people who have had HBP during pregnancy and they say they are surprised I was out on bedrest at this stage, so don't panic or think this will necessarily happen to you. I was on bedrest with my first pregnancy for the same thing. It's been tough but manageable.

Do your research adn listen to your doctors and family, then make the best decision for you and your child. Good luck with your pregnancy-HBP doesn't have to lead to complications.

My b/p started creeping up pretty early on. I kept off my feet at work as much as possible(not easy when you teach special ed students) and watched what I ate, and drank lots of water. I was put on bedrest 2 weeks ago at 32 weeks. Just listen to what your doctor tells you. I feel pretty lucky that I was able to go as long as I did before having to be put on bedrest.

I'm sorry you're having these problems so early. My BP started going up around 20 weeks with all three pregnancies. I was at 160/110 when I delivered Mara 4 weeks early and perfect. My BP got up to 150/100 and I delivered McKenna 3 weeks early and perfect. My BP this time around was up to 160/110 again with +2 protein and I delivered Micah 3 1/2 weeks early and she was perfect! I was on bedrest with all three due to preeclampsia. Just take it easy and lay on your left side when you can and keep yourself hydrated. Good luck!

I really appreciate everyone's support. I have been trying to rest as much as possible. Blood pressure has been down the past few days, but that could change tom....... My daughter was early due to preterm labor, so I am expecting this one to come early also, just hope not to early......

Hi, I know you posted several days ago, but I am just now reading this. I delivered my DD via c-section at 27 weeks due to PE. My BP started to rise at 13 weeks, and continued to rise until delivery. I did not start to spill protien until my 25th week. I was hospitalized at 26 weeks, 3 days, with a BP of 188/124, and at exactly 27 weeks my DD was born. I was losing kidney and liver function, my BP had risen to 224/166. I was on magnesium, and a baby asprin. This time around, I am told that I am at high risk to repeat the PE. I have been instructed to take one baby asprin a day. Drink a minimun of 3 quarts of water per day, and to eat a high protien/high calcium diet. All of the is controversial as to whether or not it helps, but after spending 14 weeks in a NICU with DD, I'll try anything. I am 21 weeks, 4 days now, and so far so good. I see my dr. every two weeks, and monitor my BP 6 times a day at home. It has in the last couple days started to jump around though. My DD weighed 1 lb, 8 1/2 ozs at birth and was 12 inches long. She is now 19 months old and doing GREAT. We got lucky though. Although babies born this early typically do well, they are at EXTREMELY high risk for a multitude of problems. If you have any questions, feel free to e-mail me. Please take care of yourself and baby, and I wish you all the best!

I'm sorry to hear you're going through this! I can't relate to your problem, but know that you're in my thoughts and prayers! Wishing you a happy pregnancy and that your little one grows and is born healthy and perfect. :)

I was monitored 2x a day for BP and once a day for protein in urine from week 20 until 10 days post partum. My son turned out handsome and strong.

Drink lots of water. Keep your feet up when you can and practice your breathing for relaxation.

Hi Andrea

I can relate to what you're going through. I had elevated BP while in labor with my DD (not a problem throughout my pregnancy). I was told it was an isolated stress related incident at the time (no protein in my urine). Now, when I went for my initial Dr's visit this pregnancy they told me I was High-rish for preeclampsia b/c of my history?!?. I had to have a pre-eclampsia panel done at 12 weeks and a 24 hour urine, both which came back normal. None of this makes sense to me since my BP seems to be fine, although the bottom number was 80 (up from the 70's) at my last appt. and I haven't had protein in my urine. Still, I've been doing a lot of research on preeclampsia and have been preparing myself for the worse. I'm about 19 1/2 weeks now and I'm praying that the Dr's were just being overly cautious.

Has your Dr. done any additional testing? Just keep resting as much as possible and limit your sodium intake and drink plenty of fluids. Hope everything goes ok for you -- I'll be thinking about you.
