View Full Version : Caramel Yummmmmmmmmm

hi,
this is something i love to make and its ez, takes 3 hours but its worth it

1st you get a can of condensed milk(make sure its a metal can and NOT plastic)

fill a deep pot full of water

then peel label off can and submerge the whole can (unopened)in water

boil for 3 hours making sure it stays UNDER water the whole time, (it can explode if you dont keep the water on top of can and this will make a HUGE mess)

After boiling you open can, stir the caramel,you will see the golden color then put in fridge for 30 minutes, it will become sticky and gooey and YUMMY!!!! :)

Use it to dip apples in (thats what i do )

Yes, that's how they sometimes make Dulce de Leche in South America.

I've noticed it's caught on big here in the states - there is dulce de leche stuff everywhere. Of course, we've always had caramel, but not usually in a sauce form.

In Latin America, they use it on bread or buscuits for breakfast, and they use it a lot in layer cakes.

yes, dh is from Uruguay, South America. I got the idea from him, im always boiling cans for him :) but it does get really sticky just like the way its made here also. Caramel is just milk and sugar heated, and its YUMMMMY. i have a can boiling now :) i dip apples in it, it is delicious.
