What are you reading this week? What are you looking forward to reading soon?

You can just list the book or books you're working on, or you can add a few sentences about them, or you can write a short review for us, if you like!

Share your book experiences with us here. :)

Last week I read a guide to homeschooling ages 3-8, which was somewhat helpful but mostly covered familiar ground for me. I also read On Mystic Lake by Kristin Hannah which was pretty forgettable. It wasn't awful, but I can't really recommend it.

Right now I'm reading Personal Reflections of an Historian by Stephen Ambrose and rereading Mansfield Park by Austen. And trying very hard to not start reading the group read for February. ;)

Still working on Prodigal Summer . I'm more into it now than I was, but I'm so busy that I rarely pick it up.

Two of the books waiting on my nightstand have to go back unread because they're due to day and can't be renewed. So, I'll re-request them, but I don't know what I'll be reading next.

Well, I went to the library today so now my answer is completely different! :D

I am currently reading The Importance of Being Earnest which thus far is hilarious. It's very short and I expect I'll finish it tonight. I really want to see the film with Colin Firth after I'm done!

Next up is The Little Friend by Donna Truitt and The Witch of Blackbird Pond by Elizabeth George Speare. I read the latter when I was a girl and adored it. After reading the Newbery award winners, I decided to read some of them again and picked this one to start. I don't know anything about the Truitt novel other than it got great reviews.

I just finished book 6 of the "Christmas Box" books. Since I was out of books, I asked hubby about watching the kids so that I could run to the library, and he said, did you ever read that one I like? So now I am knee deep in Cat's Cradle and it isn't bad, but it is somewhat weird to read a book where the author is in TV commercials.. is he hurting for money, or is it a hobby? I don't have a verdict on the book yet, but I do plan on completing it. The short chapters are a bit strange though... :)

I'm reading survival in Auschwitz by Primo Levi. Pretty good so far. Easy read. Next up is Gulliver's Travels.

I just finished the first 1/3 of Prodigal Summer. I hope to have more reading time for that one now. I have put The Birth Partner back on my shelf because my sister had her baby this Tuesday! That book has wonderful ideas, and gave me lots of ways to help her through labor. I highly recommend it! I think it would be great for dads to read. (I think I said that last week, too.)

Next up: Our February books!

Susan, I want to see that movie! Isn't the play a wonderful read? You should try The Ideal Husband, too, and then see the movie.

djk42, is the Cat's Cradle you're reading the one by Kurt Vonnegut? I read several of his novels in college, and that was my favorite one. His writing style is unique, and I enjoyed his humor very much.

I just finished reading The Pilot's Wife by Anita Shreve. It was okay, but not great. I thought it was really kind of predictable and sad.

I'm going to start on the February group reads soon. I requested them at my library and they're all ready to be picked up. :D

I'm finishing up Prodigal Summer and I just finished The Fire That Will Not Die by Michele McBride. She was a student survivor of a horrific school fire that occurred in Chicago in 1958.
