I'm sorry if this was asked, and you probably hate to re-write any comment ...but they would be greatly be appreciated !! TIA
my question have you had a pg that you had to give yourself daily shot of either medication? I'm on my third pg and have to start this anticoagulant therapy to prevent m/c due to positive markers for lupus anticoagulant. Any suggestions, tips (except the obvious) any sucess stories ????
I'm extremely nervous ....

Hi! I am on my third pregnancy also and do 2 shots daily...
I am on Lovenox, 140 mg a day total (60 in the AM, 80 in the PM). I have a few blood clotting disorders that make it necessary for the Lovenox, the main clotting disorder they watch with me is Factor V Leiden (FVL). This is actually my second pregnancy being on the Lovenox.
I have heard several tips to lessen bruising, etc with the injections, but none ever worked for me. I bruise horribly and nothing helps. I do the injections in my thighs and stomach, alternating sides. The tips I have heard are:
-ice the area before and after the injection
-inject at an angle
-inject sloooowly
-in injecting in the thigh, sit for 10-20 minutes after to lessen the bruising
Truthfully, I have tried everything...still bruising, but it is different for everyone.
Now for the positive...
I have two healthy chilren and one on the way. My first was born before my diagnosis, the second after. I have lost 3 other children due to m/c, cause unknown but thought to be linked to FVL. My second son was born perct...induced at 37 weeks due to my history to toxemia. Gavin has seemingly no side effects from the Lovenox and is a thriving 2 year old. He weighed 8 lb 3 oz when born...big for his gestation.
I did have an epidural at Gavin's delivery...some hospitals/doctors will refuse this to Lovenox/heparin patients. Straighten that out now if you want one.
Take a deep breath...you can do these injections...anything to keep that baby healthy, right? If you need anything else, let me know. There are others here on Lovenox and/or heparin...you are not alone. Just ask if you have any questions.

Hiya,
I inject 4500 international Units of Tinzaparin (ie: heparin) at 6pm every day. I am on life long anti coagulation therapy and came off warfarin when trying to get pg.
I am black and blue on my tummy and it is lumpy too in places. but it does go!! I promise. I must admit I look a bit like I have been beaten up on my tummy, but no one sees my tummy, unless I choose to invite them, so it's no biggy...well not too much of a biggy anyhow!!! LOL
I just think of the good and safety it is doing. I had the same injections when i had my first baby, although 11 years ago, it was a pig type of heparin, not a manufactured one!!! And I didn't have to start the injections until I was 20 weeks pg. This time it was pre conception.
I know things haven't been too good for me recently...BUT please be reassurred...I was put on a treatment dose that was almost 6x higher than this dose I am on now.
Even though i have had a bad experience...I am convinced this drug is safe...and the negative consequences of not taking it, far out weigh those of taking it.
I am so pleased to meet other mums on this drug...it is quite unusual, and it's good to be able to chat and share feelings about it all.
Hugs to you

Aliboo...
wow, you are the first one i've met who is on tinzaparin, rather than lovenox. i was wondering if i was the only one in the world! any idea what the difference is between the two, or why we would have been prescribed tinzaparin and most are prescribed lovenox?
Williams Crew...i remember emailing you some info about this, so i won't bore you by going into it again...but just know that you will get used to it, and it really isn't all that bad. it is SO worth it! and maybe you'll be lucky like me, and your dh will do the injections for you. good luck, and i hope your pregnancy goes well!
