So I had a confirmed m/c the end of Jan. and I "think" I had one in October. Same symptoms, unexplained bleeding when I wasn't supposed to get my period. I had taken a HPT and it was negative, but my HPT are always real faint. I think it was really early, and then doctor thinks it may have been as well.

Anyway I know they don't "do" anything till after 3 losses, but would you get your hormones tested???

Thanks! I'm a little scared to continue this journey, but its so comforting to hear the strength of you all that have retuned to have other babies!

I'm not sure about the testing. I know that after my second loss I was still hearing things like "Two losses doesn't mean anything specific" and "there's no reason to suspect your next pg won't be perfect." Yeah, then after my third loss (in a row) they considered me high-risk. Still didn't do any special testing except for u/s's at every other appointment.

I'm sorry you have to think about this, hon. It's so hard to face these losses and wonder if there is a reason, or did you do something wrong (which is never the case), or was it just the worst possible luck. We want answers. We want guarantees. We want that security back that we had when our bodies did what they were supposed to do.

Julie (poofer) it is hard to step back in the game and it is just as hard to walk away. I lost two, carried one to term, and well lost the last one. That being my third loss, and fourth pregnancy they did a bit of testing but told me if I wanted to try again in the future they would have to do a lot of the same testing they did when I was prego with my third attempt. Basically they drew progesterone level, clotting levels, LOTS of hcg levels which they did with the last oen as well. I hope you find the path you looking for in your journey and a lot of happiness along the way.

Julie, I had 2 losses in a row after giving birth to my son. I had the full workup including chromosomal mapping & etc. Medically speaking, we didn't learn a thing. Emotionally, it was helpful for me to know that there was nothing specific I could have done to prevent it..... however the (successful) pregnancy that followed was still stressful at times. If I had it to do over again I would still go through the testing-- but I would be more aware of how expensive it was going to be!

I had 2 early losses in a row when we were ttc this last time. The first was 6 1/2 weeks and the second was 5 weeks. We did some basic testing at the suggestion of my OB and discovered that I did indeed have a luteal phase defect/low progesterone. My OB put me on clomid to try and strengthen my ovulation. I ended up getting pregnant on that first clomid cycle and when they tested my progesterone at 7 days (routine b/c of the clomid - didn't know I was pregnant then) it was still extremely low. I also had spotting at the same time as my positive hpt. They put me on Prometrium immediately and the spotting stopped. Olivia is the result of that pregnancy.

So I personally would encourage asking about testing. I fully believe that that pregnancy would have been another early loss if I hadn't been put on progesterone immediately. I was lucky that my OB was willing to do the testing after 2 losses, but he told me there was no reason to wait for another loss if we could try and prevent it.
