no heatbeat u/s 8+weeks lmp

Hi all. I am 8 + weeks lmp and just had my first u/s. The doctor could not see the heartbeat, but there was a yolk sak and fetal pole. He was very negative but said it is possible I am not as far along as I had thought. I will get another u/s on Thursday. I am very upset and confused with things I have read on this subject. Has anyone had a similar problem ? Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Hi, I had something similar happen. I know when my lmp was. So when iwent to the dr. I should have been almost 9 wks. The dr. could not see a heartbeat. She had me come back in 2 wks to do another u/s and tada, there was a heart beat. She moved my due date back 3 wks. I still expect this baby to come around my due date b/c this is something similar to what happened w/ dd and she was 3 wks early. And I still know my lmp was in June and I didn't have one in July......

So how far along do you think should be when you go to your next u/s? Because before I made any drastic decesions, I think I would wait until I was at the point that I thought I was 10 wks or a little over, just to be safe. Sometimes our bodies do weird things..

Thank you for your fast reply. By my calculations, I will be 9 + weeks lmp when I go on Thurs for the next u/s. I used ovulation predicition as well and I ovulated around the 15 of Novembet. 1st day of lmp was Nov. 3. The doctor also said that my sac was too large so another possibility is that there was a twin( or more) and that the baby just has not developed as fast due to that. I guess all there is to do is wait. If we do not see the heartbeat this week, I am still not making any decisions until I am sure.
Could a level II u/s be helpful? Thank you again for your help.

alsteve, thanks for your post. I did not get good news yesterday.
There is no heartbeat, no new growth and the sac has started separating from my uterus. The doctor said that there is basically no hope at this point. He suggested a d/c and I am considering.
Again thank you for your support. I am very sad, but dealing with it
