Vitamin E on nipples?

Has anyone heard of this before? My MW told me today that starting at about 36 weeks I should break open a vitamin E capsule and massage it into my nipples. She said it would help with chapping. A lot of what I've read says to not do it while nursing and she said to just do it until I deliver. Not sure if it will actually help. Anyone know or have any experience?

Did you have chapping with your other kids? I've never had a problem with it.

Yes, they were cracked and bleeding 2 out of 3 times, even after I got the latch corrected.

Well, it probably won't hurt, as long as you don't keep doing it when you're actually nursing. I suspect that Lansinoh would work just as well, though.
