What is it?

Where can I get information on it?

It's a chiropractic technique - it is preformed on your sacrum (tailbone area) and doesn't hurt.

It aligns the pelvis, allowing more room for breach babies to turn - but also works wonders for posterior babies.

I had this done several times late in my pregnancy (usually takes 5 - 7 adjustments for a baby to turn to head down, anterior position for my chiro).

I will do it again in my next pregnancy.

Other stat my chiro gave me (with the paper work to back it up !) was that the technique, if preformed close to delivery (I think it was within 3 - 5 days prior) makes labours about 30% shorter !! My labour was only 3 1/2 hours long total.

Call a chiro in your area for more information - they have to be trained to do this technique, it's not part of the normal chiro training.

I just wanted to re-iterate Lea's comments.

Webster technique is a technique used by chiropractors to turn a breech or posterior baby into the correct position in preperation for childbirth.

Lea is definitely correct: If you need this technique performed on yourself you are going to have to search to find a chiropracter who is qualified and experienced in the technique. Not all chiropractors have been educated in the technique and some that even "know" about it, don't have any experience.

I thought I might need someone when I was pregnant with Melissa and I live in a big city near Chicago and I had a real tough time finding someone qualified. Good luck.

January,
Personally, I think you are a little early to be worrying about a baby being breach. Is there some concern by your doctor? I'm just curious, because I've heard that it is still very common for babies to be breach at this point in pregnancy. (You and I are due very close to each other.)

I just don't want you to get all worried unless your doctor is truely worried. You still have a long time for your baby to turn, your baby isn't even taking up all of your uterus yet, so frankly, I wouldn't worry. I hope everything works out for you and your little one.
