What are we all doing this summer? Do you homeschool year-round? Any vacations/field trips coming up? Special projects? :D

We're back to homeschooling now. We're on a light schedule for summer.

With Tommy I'm just trying to keep him from getting "mush brain" and also trying to encourage improvement in his weakest areas.

Sean is begging to work! He's had an amazing spurt in academic ability and I don't want to waste the moment. He's reading anything and everything I give him, gobbling it up and truly loving reading! :D

We're doing a lot of fun math stuff, pattern completions (which are just too easy for both boys, but Sean likes making ones to test us by making up patterns and making us complete them), tangrams and with Sean we're working on his weak stuff such as directional words. His language disorder makes anything vocab based hard. He understands concepts, but still doesn't get under, over, below, behind, etc.

He has a new private speech therapist and she did some new testing so I found some weak areas and I'm learning things to do with him at home. He has always had problems with rhyming so we're doing a lot of word play to teach him to rhyme. He now understands it and can pick out rhyming words from a list of written words or pictures. His sudden ability to read very well (I'd estimate he's in the second grade level now) has made heping him with academics as well as speech and language so much easier.

I actually wish I had more time to do more with Sean because he's just LOVING every part of school right now! Tommy sadly will always be a struggle to homeschool I'm afraid. :(
