I posted this for Donna, but I just keep feeling more and more worried about it, so I thought I'd post here and see if anyone else has had a similar problem:

I went today for an early ultrasound to date the pregnancy. According to my last period, I should be 7 weeks. Well, it turns out I am 10 weeks. The mysterious thing is that I had a VERY heavy (the heaviest ever in my life) period for my last period (Jan 17), and it was 2 weeks late. I had taken a pregnancy test and it was negative. The ultrasound tech said that she did not see a clot and that everything looked good, the heartbeat was strong, etc., but I can't help worry that something is wrong with that very heavy bleeding so early on. I have not had any bleeding since. The only information I can find online about early bleeding (not resulting in miscarriage) all refers to bleeding being light. Has anyone dealt with anything like this before? Thank you.

I had a very heavy bleed at about 9 or ten weeks with my dd Julia. We did an ultrasound and she was totally fine and will soon be 9 :). The bleeding was unexlpained and it really just caused them to watch me closer. The one thing they did say was that it was likely hormonal as it came when my period would have fallen datewise.

We are fairly certain that my last pregnancy was a twin pregnancy, and that I lost Addison's twin. I had heavy bleeding, about a week or a bit more after I expected my period, with what they call "coffee grounds," and in subsequent ultrasounds we could see the remains of a sac in addition to the one that Addison was cooking in.

I bled with both my girls. It was heavy with G- hematoma at the placenta. Lighter with A.

I had to wonder if it was just how my body handles girl pregnancies. I had no complications with DS.

I'm glad everything is ok, I know how scary that must be though and it's hard not to worry. I didn't have any heavy bleeding, I only had some brownish spotting with my girls.

Try not to worry, I know easier said than done!

Keep us posted on how you are doing.

I have bled with all my pregnancies. In fact the way I know I'm pregnant is if my period is too short or goes on too long!

With my first it was just a little bleeding around my period.

With #2 it was heavy and I mean HEAVY bleeding for a full month. The explanations were everything from a subchorionic hematoma (never actually seen on u/s though) to low progesterone. Oh and I was told without doubt that I would miscarry. Sean is now 6 yrs old and healthy! :) He does have special needs, but that is very unlikely that it is related in any way to the bleeding.

With #3 I had a long period (12 days) then it stopped. Then about 6 weeks later I started cramping heavily and miscarried.

With #4 I spotted light to moderate on two occasions for a few days each time during the first trimester. Sophie is just fine! :)

thanks everyone! Juju - that is interesting about the twin. It did cross my mind, especially since my mom is a triplet and I know I have a higher likelihood of having a multiple pregnancy. Donna replied that there should be nothing to worry about, so I am feeling a bit better about it all. It's just hard not knowing exactly what caused the bleeding. Thanks again to everyone for helping me feel a bit more at ease about it.

Mom2be, most of the threads in this forum are pretty old (the date is at the top). There are a few new ones, so keep posting!
