I hope you ladies don't mind me lurking here, but I saw a story on the local news last night that made me want to post this here. I am an OB nurse who is also a bereavement counselor, and I plan on taking this info to work for my patients also.

Last night, I was watching one of our local news stations, and this story came up. It was about a family who had a son who was stillborn at 40 weeks. The story told of his birth and even showed beautiful pictures of the parents and their older son holding the baby after he was born. I was frankly amazed that a news station would choose to show the pictures, but also very happy to see that they did. As I said, the pictures were just beautiful. The story went on to tell about a place that the family found in the Northwoods of Wisconsin called Faith's Lodge. Faith's Lodge is a place that was designed for parents who have experienced a loss or have a critically ill child, and provides things like journals in each room for parents to write in, crafts (the parents in the story painted a special rock for their son and placed under the Bridge of Hope), and a wooded path to walk that has messages of hope along the way.

After seeing the story, I was just in awe. I am just amazed that our state has such a wonderful place for parents to go to. For anyone who might be interested, I am including both the link to the story (video included) and the link to Faith's Lodge. I hope that maybe by passing this along, someone will be able to use it.

Wow. I would have given anything to have had something like that in the very early days. I kept saying that I wished there were a place we could go to be amongst fellow travelers.

I'm so sad that a place like that has to exist, but glad it does. Thanks for sharing.

Wow! That is wonderful. Sad that we have to have it, but what a wonderful way to help grieving parents.
