Hi, my name is Chasity, and I am new here. I was currently diagnosed with a blood clot either behind or under my placenta. I am 17 weeks and am having mixed emotions thru this. The dr. has said that I am goin gto bleed probably for as long as I have this clot because it is leaking, but it just is so scary. I have never heard of this sort of pregnancy complication, should I feel like I am the only one out there or are there others like me.

I am not positive but I think Elyane on BB J-D 2001 and also on SC2 had it with her last child who was born in 2001.
You might want to post one of those places to look for her. I haven't seen her around for a while but maybe jsut because of the Holidays.
Good Luck!!!!

I had one with my last pregnancy. If I remember correctly, it's called a subchorionic hemmorhage (bleed). You can search under those terms. I had more complications than just that, but baby did well and is now 6 months old. If I remember right, it puts you at a slightly increased risk of abruption later, but the risk of that is still very, very low.
Good luck!!!!!!!!!

Hi,
I am not sure if this is the same thing your dr. has diagnosed you with, but I had a subchorionic hemorrhage while pg with my DD (now 1). It was discovered when I was 9 weeks, and I had a severe bleed at that time. I was followed closely with u/s. But I was not necessarily confined to bed. I also had bleeding off and on until I was about 20-21 weeks and at that time it seemed that the problem had resolved itself and was no longer visible on u/s.
I know I was pretty scared the whole time (I also had previous miscarriages too) and my pregnancy was full of other health issues, so this just added to my fears.
I suggest that you insist that your dr. follow up with u/s in another couple weeks or so. You may find that it has gone away, I am not so sure how that happens, but it did in my case.
HTH, and I'll be glad to talk if you want,
Julie

Hi please read my post about subchorionic hematoma. Is this the same thing you have? A blood clot on the uterus... resulting in heavy bleeding or spotting? I had the same thing from my 9th week to 17th week. After being in complete bed rest, the blood clot completely disintegrated. Now I'm on my 34th week and we are expecting to deliver a healthy baby girl in the end of February. I hope this gives you some hope...

I also have a subchorionic hematoma. I'm about 9 weeks along and the bleed is also within the sac. I'm now considered high risk and going to weekly appointments and u/s.
I had that, too, with my first pregnancy. I passed a huge clot when I was about 8 weeks that started it all. Scared the he!! out of me! We thought for sure I had miscarried. U/S showed the clot and the baby was just fine. I bled for the next 6 weeks until I finally quit bleeding. The doctor said that the baby just got big enough to put pressure on the clot to make it quit. Mara turned out just perfect and is a healthy, happy 3 yr old! Best of luck to you!

Hi, everyone who stated that it could be subchronic hemorrage is correct. I had the exact same thing that you are going when I was 11 weeks, I am now 21 weeks. It lasted up til 18 weeks. I had severe heavy bleeding when it first began then I just had some spotting. I still have the blood clot, but the bleeding has subsided, so far. When I went to the ER when it first started they called it a "threatened miscarriage" scared the crap out of me. But my perinatologist said that as long as the bleeding hadn't become severe again things would be fine. And so far they are. I get at least 1 ultrasound a month, the baby has never appeared in distress. I was never put on any type of bed rest or restrictions. I hope all goes well for you.
