I noticed through your website that you are in the Kalamazoo-Portage area. I am also so I had a couple of questions for you. I am using a midwife through Borgess, do you know any of them. I cannot think of her name right now though. I have only met her once. However, whe works at the Borgess Women's clinic in Portage off of Centre. I do have one child already, but I had that birth in Trenton MI so I am not familiar with this area. Does Borgess have a good birthing facility? What kinds of things do I need to look for when I visit with my midwife here? She seems very nice from the first appt, but that was the typical pap and heartbeat and stuff. Anyway, just trying to pick your brain about the hospitals here in town.

Actually, my third baby was born at Borgess. :) I'm not familiar with the practice you are talking about. I went through Dr Beyer and Sue Wright, CNM. They were my homebirth midwife's back-up. They were wonderful! Both Borgess and Bronson have about 25% cesarean rate. Bronson has a nicer facility, it's brand new. But I liked Borgess just fine. I've attended two births at Borgess too and both went just fine. Both were successful VBACs too. Both hospitals have big tubs in the rooms, but neither will let you birth in them. Are you going to be hiring a doula? I would highly recommend it. When are you due?

Sorry it took me so long to respond, we have been out of town for Christmas and just got back Sat. Thanks so much for the info. The gyn I used previously just for a pap, went to this office, so that is why I ended up there. I like the midwife thus far, I only have had one appointment though. Not sure about the doula though. My dh was a rock the last time so I am hoping he is the same for this one. I am due the end of June so I have a little time to do some more research too. I go back to the midwife next Tuesday, so I will let you know how it goes.
