I think Maureen has weaned. And I think it was mostly self-weaned. She will be three tomorrow and hasn't nursed since last Saturday. She hasn't asked since last Sunday for her bedtime nursing...
So after being pregnant and nursing since March of 1999, I am neither. :( and :). After a total of 9.5 years of nursing with four children, I am no longer lactating.
I think I just felt let down... :(
But can I ask why my boobs are still the DDs they were before I started this process?

Amazing, Paige! Bittersweet, isn't it?
I'll bet they go down a bit in a few weeks.

I've heard that post-weaning there's a 10 lbs weight drop (if you stop eating like you're nursing, too, I guess! LOL!), and they deflate a bit. Wear GOOD SUPPORTIVE BRAS while they do, and you might end up with a bit less of the floppies, too. :) (That's my mom's tip, btw - she nursed seven, and didn't droop until she was 15 years past the last weaning... she SWEARS by good supportive bras so the ligaments don't have to carry any weight while the hormones leave your system).

First of all, your mom nursed 7 babies!!!! (That's a good eek BTW) She's my hero.
Now, as for the original post from Paige: you too are my hero. All of you who nurse beyond 2 really deserve a lot of credit. When my DD weaned at 20 months we were sort of closet breastfeeding. Only DH knew (and was totally supportive) but I have never known anyone IRL that went past one year. So to me, you guys rock.
:group hug Congrats to all of you for making it as far as you did.
As for the state of your boobs: you earned them! Go out and buy yourself some pretty new bras!

Hey, I'll take one of those "D"s! I started out a D, but with each baby they've just wasted away more. Now I can barely fill up a "B" push-up, and K3 is still nursing at bedtime, so I figure I'll lose a little more when she quits. Here's how bad it is: She caught DH fresh out of the shower the other day (he's a little heavy, BTW), and came running to me saying, "Mommy, I didn't know Daddy has "mom-moms", just like you!" :o
Congratulations, Paige, on a job WELL done! Buy yourself some luxurious bras - the "girls" deserve them!

I have never seen anyone drop 10 lbs after weaning. Everyone I know (including me) gained weight at first bc we were so used to eating more with nursing! Congrats on yoru milestone. I too would LOVE to drop about 2 cup sizes when this is all over!

 I imagine it's bittersweet...something I'm not looking forward to with Ali (as she is my last).
I'm wishing you all the best as you enter this new stage of life. :)
Paige-- to you. You have done an amazing job nursing those kids. Re the 10-lb weight drop: with my 1st two kids I lost additional weight after they weaned-- and wih Cameron I was already below my pre-preg weight so the extra loss made me too thin and I regained it with time. With Gabby it put me just a couple of pounds under my normal weight, which is within my normal fluctuation anyway. So you never know what will happen...
