Hey, has anyone out there ever had stomach pain which can feel like stomach flu(but isn't)that occurs during the nighttime hours? I've tried taking Zantac, which helps a little, but constipates me-I don't think it's worth the agony the next morning. I've tried eating different things(not spicy)with no luck. Ive tried not eating-that was worse. Eventually it comes out as gas, but it lasts for hours and hours. With 4 kids and one on the way, I need all the sleep I can get! If anyone's ever experienced this and knows what it is or what to do, I'd appreciate any advice!

Are you having gallbladder attacks? Mine always occured at night and than after a few hours it would go away until one night I ended up in the ER. At first I just had terrable stomach pain like I ate to much...needed to go to the bathroom etc. But it progressed into terrable pain in my side and under the right rib cage. I think you should probably call your doc.
ETA Welcome it looks like you are a new memeber! :)

Hey thanks for the welcome-I am new! I had gallbladder attacks with my first and second pregnancy. We were on our way to the ER when the symptoms vanished-I've heard this is typical of a gallbladder attack. This doesn't feel like that; more like when you have the stomach flu and your stomach burns. I saw a gastro doc. who didn't help much. He said it was probably over-production of acid, so I went on Protonix for two and a half months which helped immensely. Of course when I went off if it, the symptoms came back as soon as I got pregnant. I sometimes take Zantac, but it only helps for a while and it constipates me-not worth it, if you know what I mean! I guess I'm surprised that I am producing that much acid. I only have one cup of coffee a day, I don't smoke or drink, I don't eat spicy foods, I rarely take NSAIDS. I do have a family history of stomach problems though. So that 's really the only thing against me. Is it possible that it could still be gallbladder?

Yuck!! I really don't know but I would think you should bring it up to you OB next time. I would tell them that you were having Gallbladder problems before and see what they think. My surgeon told me that pregnancy often triggers gallbladder trouble because of the hormone changes. At the least maybe they can give you something to help without the side effects of Zantac. I hope you feel better soon!
