I know there are a couple out there who's hubbys are gone, but I can't remember exactly who.

How is the deployment going? How is your dh doing? When do you hope to have him home? How are you and the kids coping and what are you doing to keep busy?

Just dawned on me that we haven't had a deployment post in a while and I thought I would get everyone to check in.

How is the deployment going? Surprisingly, it hasn't been all that bad. We're well past the half way point, so we're holding on to that right now.

How is your dh doing? He's doing a lot better since he was able to come home on R&R. He was struggling with depression/bad attitude stuff, but is doing so much better now.

When do you hope to have him home? I'm hoping to have him home for Christmas, but not holding my breath. I just got word last week that the goal is to have everyone home by the end of January for our unit.

How are you and the kids coping and what are you doing to keep busy? We spent the entire summer in MN with family(it was great! :D) Now, the girls are in school, so I have some alone time with my little B-Man each day. We're just trying to do things as normally as possible, kwim. Next Friday is B-Man's birthday; he'll be 1 already. I'll most likely take the kids out to dinner and we'll do a cake over the weekend.

I'm doing dandy. Kevin left last January but was on leave in July for our first anniversary and now I'm pregnant with our first baby. I keep very busy trying to get my business degree. It's annoying at times to be here in Alaska while our families are in Michigan but I am also a very independent person so on the other hand...I love having some time to myself. This is my husband's second deployment so I knew what to expect and actually this one is better than the first. He managed to get a comfy desk job in an air conditioned office with online and phone access.

It always makes me feel weird when people ask me how I do it - handle the deployment. Well we don't have kids so luckily I already know how to take care of myself and taking care of a dog is second nature so I really don't think it's as hard for me as it is for other people. Once the baby comes then I know the deployments will get harder and then I think I'll move closer to my parents while dh is away.

For now though I'm going to take advantage of the quiet - and clean - house while I wait and pray for Kevin to come home, next year.

Dh is still in Iraq and we just hit our 5 month mark. He comes home mid November for R&R. I'm with Robyn, deployments arent't that bad since it's just me to look out for and the pets. I keep busy and the time goes by okay. We start our infertility treatment Oct 3rd so we've got some big things to look forward to in the next month.
