Hi ladies, my friend just had twins a while ago and one of the boys is having problems with FF and constipation. What have you tried that's worked? Not worked? Thanks so much for your help. Anything I mentioned she already tried. Poor little guy was crying tonight and it just broke my heart.:(

Depending on the age I have always added a little bit more water to one of the bottles than needed. Like an extra ounce or two. Do it every other bottle till it works. You can also add a teaspoon of karo syrup to a bottle. Works like a charm.

Brooke hasn't had a problem since changing over from the breast .. she was about a week old and she hadn't gone for 2/3 days so the nurse told us to give her tlb.sp brown sugar in water ..IT WORKED :D shes been fine ever since ..

Thanks ladies.:) I suggested the same thing. She ended up taking him to the ER last night because he was doing so bad.:( They treated her horribly but she was finally able to talk with her Ped's office this morning and they really helped out.:)

Just to add, I was also told we could add 1 T. of Dark Karo Syrup to 1-2 bottles per day. But for some reason, it had to be dark, not light.

I'm glad he got some help, poor thing :( My DS#1 had lots of formula and constipation troubles. First the ped told us to add light karo to all his bottles and that helped somewhat. When DS was just shy of three months old the ped had us to start him on jarred baby food prunes and voila, problem solved.

We had to use Karo with our DD but I was told dark. Funny how different Peds say different things. I'll tell her about the prunes at voila at three months. They will be three months in a while and if what the Ped suggested isn't working, maybe she can ask him about that.:)
Thanks again everyone.:)

Extra water in the formula helped us. In addition, we would also offer him a bottle of just water when he started acting hungry after he had just eaten. (If he was truly hungry he always rejected it, but typically it was as though he was just thirsty) He really loved those and still likes just a sippy cup of water.
