I'm having a huge problem with someone constantly parking behind my spot instead of using her assigned spot. She'd rather park in front of her house. I've complained about it since we moved in. She makes it difficult to back out. Well, this week my car is being fixed and we have a rental... a much bigger rental. Today I backed out as much as I could and then had to drive over the curb to get the rest of the way out.
I've called the MPs and they said they can't do anything about it but a friend said that in AZ it is illegal to park behind a driveway so the base is supposed to follow that.
Is it true? If so, I'm about to make a big deal out of this bc I'm getting sick of her lazy butt making it difficult for me to get out.

Dh works with an MP, he's going to ask him for me and I will get back to you when I know.
It only makes sense that it would. You aren't allowed to speed off post, and you aren't allowed to speed on either. You aren't allowed to run red lights on or off post. You aren't allowed to park in handicapped places. I don't see how parking rules would be any different.

that would be great if you can let me know. we already found one route that should hopefully get it taken care of but, if not, it would be nice to have this to fall back on.
I called the housing office after they opened and she gave me the phone number to two people in the unit who sponsor our area. She said this falls into their duties but if they won't do anything to call back. DH had already beat me to it, gotten the phone numbers, and tried to call but they aren't in their offices.
Oh, basically, she is required to use her space rather than parking on the street bc it causes problems for me to back out. Since she only has one car, she has no reason to be parked on the street. Hopefully this pans out. Still, I'd be thrilled to hear what your dh's MP friend says.

He said that on base traffic laws aren't necessarily the same as the surrounding area. Sorry, no help there. However, I do know that there are rules against "obstucting driveways." A vehicle can not obstuct your driveway or in anyway obsruct the flow of traffic.
Have you spoken to this person?? Is it seriously going to kill them to park their car 10 feet further down??? Good gracious! How lazy!
