I don't know why I never thought to pop in here before!! I want to introduce myself. My name is Shari. I have a son Gregory, who's 19 mos old. I'm pregnant (just about 6 weeks) with our second child. I'm also a SAHM. I have already learned so much just reading posts here! I'm making decisions right now regarding my primary caregiver. I'm actually meeting with a midwife next week. My birth experience with Gregory left A LOT to be desired. I went 15 days overdue, dealt with a pig headed doctor who's fishing schedule was more important that my birth experience and scheduled my induction around it. (I'm not joking) I was in labor for 32 hours, finally began progressing (around 27 hour mark) and dilated to 3 1/2 cms. My water partially broke, and they broke it the rest of the way, and then Gregory's heart rate started dropping w/ each contraction. So, I headed for what my doctor called "an emergency c-section with lots of time" What ever that's supposed to mean! You can see my birth experience was less than positive! :) At any rate, I'm determined this time it WILL be different. I am GOING to have a VBAC!!! I'm choosing a midwife because of their success rates w/ VBAC. Their outlooks match mine, and they are supportive in my choices. They have hospital priviledges and also do home births. In ontario Midwives are 100% covered by the provincial health care plan...so its no cost to me at all!! I am not sure yet (its still early) whether I would choose a hospital birth or a home birth. The hospital they work with has a brand new child birth ward, and it is so homey!! I think either choice will be a good one.

Anyways, enough rambling, I just wanted to say hi...and I'll probably be posting a million questions ;)

Hi Shari
I remember your birth story from SC2 and also all of your prodromal labor. Since I was also overdue with lots of prodromal labor, I have also chosen a midwife and we have chosen a homebirth this time.
Sounds like you will have a successful VBAC and have lots of good options.

Hi Shari, I remember you too ;)

I remember your prodromal labor very well. I wanted to tell you that at that time, working within the system that you were working with for that birth - you made the best choices that you could have at the time. You were a real trooper during your overdue time. You went 5 + days more than what most other women are allowed to go over. I was so sad for you that your birth turned into something against your birth plan. But you can be proud of how you approached it.

But now you're in a different system and I think you'll find it much easier to work within it. I'm so glad you moved!!!

Congrats on Baby #2!

Thanks for the support and welcome everyone. It's really nice to see some familiar faces in here :) I have my interview w/ the midwife this Friday. I've already posted at SC3 questions to ask, and I got a pile of GREAT suggestions...most came from you ladies here thru another source!

Andrea~ you're always such a great support :) Thanks for reminding me that I did everything I could in the situation I was given. (((HUGS))) nice to see you again!
