When do you stop actively burping your baby?

My dd is 5 1/2 months old and she is not burping sometimes after I feed her. I know she sometimes will later and it does not seem to bother her.

Even when she wakes at night and I give her a quick feed, I could pat her for 15 mins and she will not burp so I put her back to bed and she will be fine the rest of the night.

I can't recall exactly but I think DS stopped needing to be burped by the six month mark. Like you described with your dd, when my ds no longer needed me to burp him no amount of encouragement would bring one up and he was fine with it. I just kept in mind that if I didn't burp him and he started fussing a little while later, a few pats on the back would do the trick.

Enjoy the 15 more minutes of sleep now that you won't have to spend it trying to get a burp :)
