Hi ladies,
Although this cyst should not complicate my pregnancy it sure is making it painful :( . I just went for a sonogram last night due to the pain and sure enough there is a large cyst on my right ovary. My doctor was not in to discuss anything with me but the technician said there is probably little they can do to treat it. I should hear from my doc in the next couple of days and I was wondering if anyone here ever dealt with this. I'm a waitress and the pain has been making my job very difficult and I'm worried that I will not be able to continue working. Any information or advice?
Thanks :)

A couple of weeks ago I was rushed to emergency with terrible pain on my right side..I thought it was appendix. Turns out I have a tennis ball sized cyst on right ovary that twisted around and cut off the blood supply to the ovary. Called ovarian torsion. I was 10 weeks prego them and luckily it untwisted, but they say that it is the corpus luteum cyst associated with early pregnancy and that it will shrink as the placenta takes over. How far along are you. Maybe yours wil shrink too! Good luck

My girlfriend had laproscopic surgery for a ruptured ovarian cyst when she was 4 months pg with her last baby. She seemed to do well. She said the pain was unbearable before that though.
Sometimes they do shrink. Make sure your doctor keeps on top of it, and don't wait if the pain gets worse.

I had a cyst that was detected during my u/s when I was preggo with my first. They said that it was somewhat common and that it would probably dissapear throughout the pregnancy and to have it checked at my postpartum checkup. Well, I went to my checkup and it had grown to baseball sized. Because of it's size they didn't want to mess with hormonal therapy to get rid of it (that is one way to get rid of a cyst). I had to have it removed when my son was 4 months old. It was supposed to be laparoscopic day surgery but turned into full blown abdominal surgery. My ovary and falopian tube was removed.
Through the whole thing I didn't have any pain, just a wierd pressure sensation. It didn't affect my feritility or anything like that. If there is major pain, I would really insist on talking to your doctor and making sure it isn't twisting or ruptured. I hope that answers some of your questions.

Firstly congratulations on your pregnancy. I also had a cyst on my ovary, and while the pain was quite bad from time to time I managed through and once the placenta started to do its thing the pain gradually subsided. This is my experience, yours may be different. Good Luck!! Hope everything goes well for you!
