I am 11 weeks pregnant and have already been in the emergency room three times, at present am on bedrest for one week, I am concerned about whether or not to return to work. I wondered if there are any other expectant mums out there who have been in a similar situation have any advice, should I or shouldn't I return to work, opinions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Kylee:confused:

I am pregnant with my fourth baby (my other three children are 7, 5, and 2). I've had preterm labor with all four pregnancies but have been fortunate to hold off delivery until 37-38 weeks (and am trying again :). My experience and from what I've read indicates that it's in your best interest to definitely stop working! Even though it may not feel like it consciously (and even if you do enjoy your job), working does add a level of stress. If you take the time off of work, then you will have more time to simply lay around and read, read, read or catch up with old friends on the phone or via e-mail. I call it "incubating." To me, nothing is more frightening than preterm contractions that are painful and can easily lead to too-early delivery and the loss of the baby. It may seem like an endless amount of time to wait for full term delivery, but it's definitely worth it and you have to keep that goal in mind. Good luck to you!

You don't say why you were hospitalized 3 times. or why you are on bedrest, so it is difficult to say if you should stay home. How can we know if we have a similar situation, when we don't know what the situation is?
If you were hospitalized for dehydration from throwing up (hyperemesis), which is typical at 11 weeks pg, know that it usually passes by week 16. Returning to work after that should not be a problem once you stop throwing up.
Other than that, I don't know what else to say!

Well I am 17 weeks and no sometimes that does not always past because I am still living it and working. I am nausaus all the time and sometimes I can't eat, but I still pull myself out the bed everyday to go to work. It really depends on what type of work you do etc. I sit at my computer all day so I am planning to work until I schedule my C-Section. At least I will try GOD willing

if ur doc has said bed rest ,then bed rest it is.no second thoughts on that.if u can afford to quit then do it,no probs.nothing more important than ur baby.relax and enjoy the wait.
I know exactly how you feel! I have been struggling to work as a teacher untill the end of the school year, but have been diagnosed with an irritable uterus. Walking around encourages contractions, and really hurts! With just one week to go I am going to call it quits, and feel really disappointed, like I have let the kids in my class down, and I am a burden to management. However, I have to do what I can to keep my baby safe inside. I am almost at 32 weeks, and feel that if I stop work I will make it to term. Life is not black and white, and some decisions are just hard! However I think if you know in your heart that you are doing it to give your baby the best possible chance, then no-one can criticise that decision. Best of luck with what ever choice you end up making.
