What are you reading this week? What are you looking forward to reading soon?

You can just list the book or books you're working on, or you can add a few sentences about them, or you can write a short review for us, if you like!

Share your book experiences with us here. :)

I've just been reading Love Medicine this past week. I'm almost ready to post on the next discussion thread.

I borrowed a book from a friend this weekend that looks very fun. It's called Summerland by Michael Chabon. Have any of you read it or heard about it? I've also seen it listed as a good book for young adults. Not sure when I'll get to it, but I've added it to my TBR stack!

I'm still working on Love Medicine (ready to post on the second thread now) and The Birchbark House. I took a quick break last week and sped through David Sedaris' Holidays on Ice. Unfortunately, I was a little disappointed in it. I much preferred his Me Talk Pretty One Day.

I have Skipping Christmas awaiting me, along with about a zillion other things which I may or may not get to.

Today I read Slammerkin which is a historical novel about an English Prostitute in the mid 1700s. It's definitely not my usual type of book, but it was here and it was a real page turner somehow.

I'm planning to read Letters to a Young Poet by Rilke next. It's on hold for me at the library, so I have nothing to read tonight.

OKay, since very few of us have time to read this week, except me who never takes in cooking responsibilities during the holidays, I'll mention another book I read this week (usually I just post about the ones near Monday). I'm Reading Kurt Cobain's Journals . It's fairly interesting, although the editing process is a mystery. He had 10 journals and they've chosen to take photographs of actual pages and print them in chronological order. But it's not all the pages, and who knows what they chose to leave out. The editors haven't made comments and have only given last names for certain people he talked about.

If you're not a Kurt Cobain fan, then it wouldn't be that interesting, but coming from the Pacific NW during his early days, I remember before they got famous. And fame really messed him up. He couldn't handle it. So, I'm interested in why. Also, Nevermind is my all-time favorite album, plus Kurt and I were exactly the same age. I'm not sure why I'm making excuses for my interest in this topic, but I do feel a bit sheepish about it.
