JUST CURIOUS WHAT CAUSES IT I HAVE NEVER HAD IT BEFORE.
IT SEEMS TO BE AFTER I HAVE DONE A LOT OF STANDING.

Do you see a chiropractor? Sometimes the bones in the lower back get so locked up that the pubic symphasis gets too loose. That will cause some pain (sometimes severe if it gets really separated!) during pregnancy.

I posted here a few weeks (months?) ago. There are a lot of ladies who know a lot about it here! And so does the Midwife, if you post a question with her.
My pain in my pubic bone has diminished lately, (I think the baby has moved) but this is what I remember reading to help remedy the situation.
*when getting out of the car, make sure both feet are firmly planted on the ground.
*don't cross your legs.
*don't wear high heals.
*a microwave rice pack (not sure how to make it) was recommended to provide relief.
*When you roll over in bed, make sure you roll over with your legs together.
*sleep with a pillow between your legs.
That is all I can remember right now. Make sure you talk to your health care provider, maybe he/she can give you more tips for relief. The best thing I was told, was that as soon as the baby is born, the pain is gone...Feel relief soon.

yes I see a chiropractor.
I know that my back is out. I also have a fairly physically demanding job. carrying, squatting etc.

I also have a physically demanding job with lots of bending and lifting (I work with 3-5 year olds in a nursery). I suffered with a separated symphasis from about 34 weeks. As far as I remember it's caused by the body producing too much of the hormone "relaxin" which causes the ligaments to loosen up for delivery. If your body produces too much, it causes the ligaments in the pubic bone to separate causing the pain.
Good advice there from islandmom, all I can add is to avoid going up and down stairs as much as possible as that can also aggravate it. My midwife referred me to physiotherapy who suggested all those things, and gave me a special support belt. To be honest I found it so uncomfy I didn't wear it much, but then I also developed carpal tunnel syndrome so I had wrist supports too - I felt like Marilyn Manson with all my surgical straps....

I had to stop working when I was 6 1/2 months pregnant with Emily due to early separation of the pubic bone, and it was extremely painful for me. It got so bad I could barely walk sometimes. It was most painful when I got out of bed in the morning and when I got up from sitting down. I had to make sure I had something to hold on to for support while getting up otherwise I wouldn't be able to do it. Thankfully that's all over now. My doctor suggested I get a cane but I never did.
