Just wanted to share:)

I've wanted to make these for YEARS and just never got around to giving it a try.

DS and I made a huge batch last night (we're getting started on our Xmas gifts) and TALK ABOUT EASY!!!!!!! It was so simple,so QUICK and so FUN!

If you've ever wanted to make these....DO IT!!! I wish I hadn't waited so long! :)

We made red, peppermint scented salts in honor of Xmas and packaged them in quart-size, snowman shaped jars we found at the dollar store for $1 a piece.:)

Did I mention how easy this was??? :D

How do you make them?

Sorry, maybe I should have posted the recipe. :)

Epsom or sea salt
baking soda (to soften skin)
essential oil in desired scent
food coloring

That's it! :) For one batch, we used a 1/2 gallon of salt, 1tbsp baking soda. 7-10 drops essential oil and enough food coloring to make it the right shade of color. Just put it all in a big mixing bowl and stir until scent and color are evenly distributed.

*You can get the essential oil at some craft supply stores, but I ordered mine online...it ran about $3 per vile. One vile makes 1-1.5 batches depending on how "strong" you want it.

Takes like 3 minutes to make :D

Next I want to make some sugar body scrub....anyone have a recipe?? :o:

Thanks for listing the recipe for the bath salts. We're planning to make some in my moms group (about 35 of us) and I'm looking for a good and easy recipe! I was just looking up homemade sugar scrubs online and a bunch of recipes are listed. I haven't tried any yet, but plan to soon!

Oh GREAT gift idea. I think I'll have to do this for my female family members. :D

Check out of Project of the Month from a couple of years ago in the cubby! http://www.exploringwomanhood.com/homelife/ideas/pom-sep02.htm

I will just warn that some homemade bath products will go bad so don't make them too long in advance. The oils in this project lasted about 90 days, the foaming bath salts, 6 mo. I've always used up the milk bath within a few months so I never had a chance to see how long that lasted! I was told by someone who makes soaps that it is the essential oils in them that can go rancid. I noticed that one brand was more of a problem than the other I used.
