i hope its ok to post here.. i am wondering what others experiences have been.
my first son was born emergency c-section due to his head getting stuck after 4 hrs of pushing. i was successful in having an unmedicated birth experience up untill the c-section. it was very hard emotionally for me b/c i had put alot of effort and preparation in trying to do a vaginal birth.
well my dh and i are thinking about ttc early spring next yr. i am a bit concerned that i won't be able to find someone to do a vbac as my pregnancy will have been fairly close together and i head they like you to wait a few yrs. i have an appt with my midwife next month to talk to her about it. i really don't want another c-section if at all possible.
has anyone else had a successful vbac with children less than 2 yrs apart.

Mine were 26 months apart - all God's plan not ours. I know many women who had children closer and had vbacs. A good friend of mine had kids 13 months apart and must have a uterus of steel because she had a high pitocin induction with a LONG labor (this was about 7 years ago). She has gone on to have 3 more hospital vbacs with her children 18-24 months apart. Her third was also induced, her 4th was natural all the way, and her 5th was encouraged with a membrane stripping and then AROM, but no medications to induce. That one was also a drug free birth.
CatherineS's babies are 21 months apart and she had an hbac about 17 months ago. Her birth story is in StorkNet's journal area.
I have seen ONE study that have shown that you should 18 months between your kids (meaning don't conceive until about 9 months post-partum), but I am not aware of any research that says you should wait two years. Maybe something has been published since I last looked for it in 2001. Back then I found only one study that mentioned the 18 months spread. Did you hear that from a doctor? Could it just be THEIR fears stepping in? I think that in many cases rather than study it (because there are SO many worthwhile things to study and only so many grants) that it is easier to tell women to just wait longer between babies. In my case that wasn't an option with my religious beliefs, but I didn't have to deal with it anyway because I didn't get pregnant before 17 months post-partum.

There are 20 months between my c/s baby and my vbac baby.
Hi Cynthia - A good friend of mine just had a VBAC - 22 months after her first C/S. She did have some problems but they weren't related to time - in anyone's opinion. I asked my OB about time to conceive after my C/S and he didn't have any issues. Some people believe there should be at least 18 months between each birth if the first was a C/S but my OB said there was nothing to back that up scientifically.
