Has anyone bought new drawers and door fronts for their kitchen and installed them on your own? If so, where did you get them? I've found several manufacturers and figure it will run me about $25-$40 a door, and I'll get nice raised panel paint grade (maple or poplar) so my old face frame and new doors and drawers will match. We'll also install hidden hinges and new hardware (compared to the zero hardware I have now thanks to very crookedly hung doors).
Any tips or places to direct me to? I figure that this will give my kitchen a total facelift but we'll do it for less than a thousand dollars - compared to about 5k to reface (and about 10k if I were to get new cabinets - which I can't since I have a new countertop already installed).
We want to do a really professional job here as we're not moving, so I'm doing my homework thoroughly before we order the doors and dive into this...
I have a beige-y granite (Santa Cecilia, very similar to Venetian Gold), dark birch floors, and beige walls. I want the cabinets to be a creamy color. I've looked on some kitchen galleries and that is the color cabinets that my granite is usually shown with.
Any tips from those that have done this would be great! We do plan on stripping the old stain on the face frame. Starting from scratch.
