View Full Version : Crib....

Since Sophia is crawling now I have been so concerned about her falling on the floor after a nap...she has been close a few times.

Well I put the rail on the crib so the side car is no longer there. It was a terrible night...Sophia nursed 4 different times...I brought her into bed each time and promptly fell back to sleep...then woke up each time and put her back in the crib...I couldn't sleep when I was nursing on my left side because I was afraid she would fall off the bed.

I don't know if she always wakes up this much...with the side car thing I may have just not woke up when she nursed, just pulled her in bed...getting up and going to get her definitely wakes me up more. It's an arm's length away but it's enough to wake me.

But she is also in a fussy stage...has not napped today, not nursing well(teething ?) dunno if the sleeping arrangement is the cause of this or she is not sleeping just because she is in a fussy spell...

Anyway I can't co-sleep 100%, just don't sleep well, and hubby can't sleep at all. I can still reach over and touch her but she doesn't calm down with patting...the thing is, only once did she actually nurse a lot...so I think she was comfort nursing 3 times.

I am giving this 3 or 4 nights and if it is no better, back to the sidecar...

Wish me luck

suggestions are welcome

I know its extreme but could you put the mattresses on the floor, including the crib one?

Or, if you don't want all the mattresses on the floor, can she nap on a pallet on the floor? Or a mattress in another room, on the floor? That would leave your bed and sidecar intact for nighttime sleeping.

Last night was awesome...she went down at 12:30am(later than usual, slept til 6:45, nursed and went back down until 9:30am...

It was great...I slept, she slept...guess it was just a bad night, or maybe adjustment to the crib but last night was great ~ same as in sidecar so it may just work.

If it doesn't, I may look at napping on the floor in bedroom

We are having this same dilema. Cept in our case we have our queen and twin pushed up against one another with a bed rail on the outside of the queen (yes Daddy was banished to the single bed again ;) )

She has fallen out of bed twice during naps. Our bed is on the floor but still has a box spring. I have been putting pillows and comforters around the bed on the floor so at least she has a soft landing.

I usually hear her the second she wakes but both times I was in the potty :( She was not a happy camper.

We coslept with Kieran doing the sidecar thing. She didn't roll over until she was 7 months old and she didn't crawl until she was 10 months old, so I had a while before I had to worry about her napping by herself. When we got to that point, I started putting her on the floor to nap. We recently got a new bed that doesn't allow us to use the sidecar arrangment (our new bed is way too high), so we put the rail back on her crib and she has slept in there for the past 5 days now! I am truly shocked by this, as she coslept every night for 16 months and was rocked to sleep for every nap and bedtime, and she's had no problems sleeping in her crib.
