Dr Sears "The Baby Book"

Can I just say I LOVE THIS BOOK!
I had previously been using the What to Expect the First Year book as a reference, and got fed up because I kept finding disturbing things such as advocating disposables over cloth diapers, a list of why a baby carrier is not a good thing, and advocating letting your baby CIO in order for them to "learn how to fall asleep on their own."
Anyone else love this book as much as I do?

ME, ME!! I too was using what to expect. I LOVE Dr Sear's books, fussy baby and The Attachment Parenting Book and Nighttime Parenting by him are GREAT! I really wish I had read these while I was pregnant especially the Nighttime parenting one. Amazon usually has used copies at GREAT prices!!! GREAT BOOKS!

I too love Dr. Sears' books! I discovered tehm when my daughters were older and I bought the discipline book...it changed my life...

now that I have a new little one I refer to these books often

I love it too. I bought mine new before dd was born and it is now duct taped together!! I use it so often as a reference and it was a great read.

I tossed my WTEWYE after the first month. I found a copy of the Sears' book at the consignment store for $3!

It is now my standard baby shower gift, along with a crocheted baby afghan. :)

YAY for dr. sears! i love this book. one thing i especially love about him is that his books are written in such an accepting way that even "mainstream" parents can read it and go, "yes! that makes sense!"

i HATED WTETFY. my sister "loved" it (as well as WTEWYE and the toddler one :rolleyes: ) so my mom bought it for me just before i had jasmyn. i read a couple chapters, said, "this is not for me" and went back to reading my copy of "The Baby Book".

i love the dr sears books too.

i cannot stand the wte books. i find them to be condescending and disrespectful of children and what i feel are their rights.

my sil gave me her copy of wtewye. she thought it was good. but, i am glad to say, she was very ap with their third child.

ok.. I ordered Dr Sears Discipline book! I can't wait! I'm so glad someone else LOVES his books. My sister thinks I'm nuts...lol

Yep..I loved the Sears baby book..got it when we were expecting DS#1. I also have his discipline book. The other baby (infant) book I just finished and like is Karp's The Happiest Baby on the Block.
